After much waiting I received the call I've been waiting on - my frame was ready and I could pick it up ASAP. There was a minor delay when my little 9 week old kitten, Penelope, somehow managed to shut the kitchen door on her own tail - so first I had to make a visit to the clinic to make sure her tail was not broken. Finally, this afternoon, after Penelope was seen and home, I was able to make the trip to pick up my bicycle frame. I must say it is a beautiful, bold, exciting purple - I LOVE IT! I dropped my frame and fork off at my BF's place today and we will begin building my new Bachetta Giro 20 recumbent Thursday or Friday (he is out of town on vacation, what timing!). He plans on building my new wheels later this week as well for the rims were delayed and did not arrive in time for him to take them with in on his trip. So, hopefully by this weekend or the beginning of next week I'll be learning to ride my new bicycle and the painful tendons in my wrists will get a much needed and welcome break.

oooooh, Bachetta....
Be sure to post some pics!
After I learned that Volae is just a mimic of Bachetta, I decided to go for the original (Bachetta) when I get my next 'bent. If I get my next 'bent. Someday.
I do miss my BikeE, but just couldn't have two bikes right now.
Hope the kitten has learned to stay away from doors, and her tail is feeling better!

Bacchetta co-founder John Schlitter rides the brevet series here in Gainesville- (but he's so fast I never see him!!) They have a cool team called the Killer Bs- with really cute blue and black bee jerseys.
I can't wait till some day in the distant future when I can afford a recumbent...

I LOVE my Bacchettas. I have both a Giro and an aluminum Corsa.
Neither is purple, though. That is an awesome color, I'm jealous.
I'm also glad your cat has you.
If this is your first bent, there is a learning curve. Don't get discouraged, and if you have any fit/balance/riding issues, PM me.
There is also a friendly Bacchetta forum.

TS, thanks for the words of encouragement. I figure in the beginning I'll stick to my subdivision (a large circle with low traffic) or my school's parking lot until I feel like I have a handle on my new recumbent. My BF is a huge fan of recumbents (has two) and he has promised me he will help me get a feel for the bike. He saw the frame/fork for the first time this evening and when asked what he thought of the paint he replied "it's gorgeous!" Now all we have to do is put all the parts/components on it, get the wheels we built and off I go on a new adventure. In reality I could not have made this purchase if it weren't for a friend giving me a recumbent he had built to take from what I needed and my BF's eagerness to build me a bike (he does this for a living). I tried to post some pictures but they are too large and I don't know how to size them down :( . I'll keep you posted and will PM you if I need some help.
Thanks,
Marcie
