Wow, its closing in so fast everyone! I'm starting to feel that I'm sitting still when I should be training, even though I'm on target. Ants in my pants I guess  .

Anyway, I've been off the board for a while, but hearing about other women training is so encouraging, and helps me press on! Any small tips anyone has I'd love to hear.

you're doing IMLP? COOL! I realize Running Mommy set the bar a little high by keeping us so well informed, but I for one would love to hear how the training's going!

WOW- you're doing Lake Placid??? I'm so excited for you!!! 38 days will fly by so quickly, and before you know it- you'll be IRON!! :D

How is the training coming along? Your race is about 8 weeks before my iron distance race, so you'll have to give me some of your best training tips. I like when Denise did a top 10 things she learned training for the IM. What has worked well for you? What would you do differently?
Please tell all! I'd love to hear all about your journey! :)

I found this site today that has some GREAT inspiring ironman videos. Here's a link to my favorite video I've found so far:

Makes me get teary...

The site is youtube.com and if you go there and type in ironman you'll see some videos to watch to get you "in the mood."

Please report back- we 'd love to hear all about your training!

oh no, that video made me cry...

today I went for a ride, did 105 km (65 miles i think). I spotted my Aunt out on her bike so I caught up and rode with her for a while which was awesome. It had been a long time since I'd rode with anyone and the extra push is great. I got a crazy bad headache though. When I got home I had to go right to school, and I kept falling asleep in class  Nothing quite like training and lectures to put you to sleep in a hurry ;)

Next week my boyfriend is taking me down to Placid so that I can hit up the bike course. I did once around last summer, think it was 4 hrs and a bit. So I'd like to try to get twice around in, but I have to plan that out yet.

Anyway, I'm off to the pool. I'll let you know what's happening.

Ladies, its now only 31 days away! What happened to it being a year and a half away?!

Today I had a solid brick workout which has rendered me useless for the moment. My pace felt great, and I think I handled my eating/hydration fairly well. Tonight is a swim workout, going to take it fairly easy, practice some pacing to keep myself from being a first lap hero! (That's the beauty of IMLP, two laps of the swim, two of the bike, two of the run... its great for pacing yourself!)

Oh my gosh t-flor!! I didn't know you were doing IMLP. Thats the grande dame of Im's in my book! The hills! OY! Your one strong cookie!!
I have a documentary that was done at LP last year called 140.6. This guy followed three people through training and the race. It was really cool. I'd be glad to loan it to you if you'd like to see it. As long as you promise to send it back. I sent it to Lise and she gave it a thumbs up as well.
As for tips, my only one is watch the porta johns on the bike course. Bike cleats and plastic floors don't mix! Also don't grip your bars too tight. I'm STILL dealing with the effects of a compressed ulnar nerve!!
Oh- and go to the prerace dinner and post race banquet. Esp. the post race so you can get a copy of the video. It's pretty nifty that they have them ready the next morning! Ahh technology!! :D
Anyway, keep us posted on your training, tapering, and what your # is when they post them!! YAY!! Another TE'r to watch on IMLIVE!!! Woo Hoo!!
Let's hope it WORKS this time!! errgghhh..

today was 5 and a half hours on the bike. I was trying to make the rolling buffet work for me but didn't get enough calories in compared to what I should have. Too much of it was on the flat though, and with no major uphills to make me think, and no downhills to have fun with I ended up thinking alot about various pains. My feet and neck were super sore. But as soon as I hit the hills at the very end the pain was miraculously gone!;)

Anyway, I'm sleepy... going to bed right away I think.

Good for you! That course does look really hilly, from the 140.6 DVD RM loaned me.

as hilly as it is, its not really that bad. Its never severely steep. There is a long uphill but, conversely, its followed by a long downhill. I've biked the course there before so I know what to expect. Actually the flats are hard for me, the recovery is nice, but I don't push myself as hard along them, I get bored.

As for the hills on the run course, I live and train in Montreal and its almost impossible to go without hills. However, I have IT band problems in my left leg so for the worst of the hills I'll be walking anyway.
