View Full Version : Does your butt ever stop being sore?

I am just wondering.

I changed saddles over a month ago... and it seems like it fits and all. I also bought new shorts with 11mm padding in them.

Last month I rode 450 miles and had 30 hours in the saddle. I keep thinking the more I ride, the tougher I will get... but my butt is always a little sore where my sit boes are. I don't have sores or anything... just tender tissue.

So, is this as good as it gets?

I don't get tender tissue.

I find my saddle less comfortable than it was, but I am never left with any issues down there, unless I spend a LOT of time in the drops (like more than one hour).

So maybe you're in the market for a new saddle!

I think you need a new saddle. You should be able to ride hours without experiencing the sit bone pain you are describing.

Maybe your LBS has a stash of saddles they will let you test - it's worth asking.

two things, if you have deep bruising, it takes a long time to heal.
a really long time! weeks, even longer. However, I agree with everyone else.
I just completed a 100 mile ride on my new (a month old) saddle and
my soreness was negligible, gone two days later.

I agree with the others... your but should not be feeling like that - try a dif seat.

The only time I feel sore is when I spend alot of time in the drops, or when I use the aero bars in a TT... but it goes away pretty quickly and feels more like numbness than bruising.

Good luck, getting that but comfy is prettty vital.
