Good news for masochists !

As many of you know, a section of Sierra Road washed out during the heavy rains this spring and was closed for repairs from late March, April, and May. The City of Oakland tried to acquire 3 – 10 feet from the owners of the property adjoining the washed out area, but were not successful. The city road department then excavated most of the poor soil beneath the road bed and brought in many, many truckloads of rock and built up the hillside. The city paved last week and opened the road Friday. The road may be subject to closure one day this week for painting the lines on the new pavement, but for the most part it is back to normal again. So ride on and climb Sierra Road.
