Just got back from a regional TE meeting here in Salt Lake. Lise is in the city for a work-related conference and of course! we had to get together since it seemed like we already knew so much about one another!
What a great time we had. I can now personally vouch for Lise's fabulous character. :p We had an early lunch at a "gourmet" deli close to my home, and then went for a walk in City Creek Canyon. It is a clear, sunny day with pleasant temps in the mid 60s.
It was so nice to meet up with another TE-er. Here is a picture that my hubby took before I had to redeposit Lise at her hotel. That's Lise on the left, me on the right, and the famous Yellow dog, Pika, in the front.

I was thinking it was such a bummer that Lise wasn't in SLC next weekend.
V.
It's all true! And I just snuck out of our annual business meeting because I cannot sit still that long! Officially, I'm "in the bathroom" (shhhhhh!)
We had a great time. I was telling my pal Martha (the one we waved at out the window of yellow's SUV) about our lunch and hike, and about LRRH. I said, "Man, how I wish I could do it with them!" Martha said, "Ride 100 miles. In altitude. Next week. ?" Riiiiiightt..... Yeah! I could do it! (I'd be gasping by the side of the road. You could throw gatorade from your bikes to try to revive me. :p ) I do wish I could meet all of you. It was so fun getting together. It's like having cousins all over the world! I could've petted Pika for about 6 more hours (those of you who are dog-deprived, as I am, understand). This part of the country is so beautiful...hard to go back to Chicago.
Thank you again, yellow, for your hospitality and friendship. Husband, beasts, and home were all welcoming. They have the greatest hiking trail here for dogs and their people along a beautiful rushing creek. I loved the 14 or 15 rules posted at the trailhead, including something about puppies under 4 months probably shouldn't be on the trail. Awwwwwwwwww...that's right! They should be in snugglies! :D
OK, y'all, back to the business of midwifery! Looking forward to many more TE inter-regional meetings in the future! L.
ps: Notice how the flamingo got in the picture, too? ;)

I was just pondering. Did Lise get to taste the chocolate before anyone else? :( :D

That is SO cool! I am so looking forward to meeting everyone!!!
I am so glad you got together and enjoyed a great time! Lise, I hope you gave Pika a bit of baby talk and a few kisses for me; what a beautiful puppet! (sorry, that's what I call my dogs...er... puppies ... puppets... just sorta morphed ;) )
Thank you so much for sharing!!!!

NO!
I did not! What was I thinking?
Trac' -- believe me, there was plenty of puppy talk and scritches for Pika. I don't believe we got in a tummy rub, so I'll definitely need to come back.
PS--altitude is no joke for a flatlander like me. After a run & short urban hike on Monday, and a brisk walk to get to an address that turns out to be an empty lot... ... last night, I thought I was going to pass out on the street. No kidding. Gasping for breath, intense headache, dizzy. I drank water, sat down, eventually ate, took some migraine meds and slept 7 hours. I am fine today, but it was uncomfortable yesterday evening. N'eer the less, I'd gladly come back! Don't know that I could ride 100 miles at this elevation without some aclimation, though. (Is that what it's called?)
love to all you SW'ers, and thanks again to yellow, DH, and Pika.
Home again, home again, higglety-pig! I'll be glad to snuggle my own kitties. L.

Lise, I was going to post this info earlier but forgot.
We talked about humidity, so that afternoon I looked at the difference between SLC and Chicago. In SLC that day, time of year when the humidity is a bit higher, it was 23%. Same day in Chicago: 74%.
So you were probably very dehydrated too!
Oh, and you couldn't have tasted the chocolate as the shop was closed for a long holiday weekend.

Well, that makes sense! Thanks for the info!
Ooooo, boy, am I glad to be home! On the bike tomorrow, unless it rains.
