View Full Version : LRRH After Ride Party

OK all you gals coming to LRRH! SadieKate and I have hatched a little plan for a post-ride party. It will be in Salt Lake, at Casa Yellow, so those gals staying in Salt Lake Saturday night and those that live in points south should be able to at least make a rock star appearance. We're thinking potluck, with burgers/veggie burgers and beverages provided courtesy of Mr. yellow.

What I need to know is (1) who will be coming and (2) how many in your party (non-riding family and friends are welcome). We have beer on tap, and will have sodas/water/etc available. It would be great if attendees could stop off at the grocery and bring something to share with everyone (if you can't because of goofy travel arrangements, that's fine...you can let me know via PM and we can adjust accordingly).

Time? We'll jet home after the ride, but I'm thinking that things would probably get rolling between 5 and 6 (?), maybe earlier...hard to say. Let's just remain flexible on the time for now. I want to make sure we can rope in the Utah County gals for at least SOME of the evening.

So, post on this thread if you plan to come so we all know how many to plan for. I'll provide directions to Casa Yellow via PM or email.

This will be easier and more relaxed than trying to go "out" Sat night. Fun! :D

P.S. Jacuzzi available. Bathing suits recommended for daylight hours! ;)

It does sound like lots of fun!
I know some of the ladies I'm traveling to LRRH with are going to be anxious to get home, so I'm not sure how it will pan out at this point...but I'll check around and see how the others feel about popping in.
I did get a kick out of your comment, yellow, about it being "easier and more relaxed" to have it at your place. Maybe for those who are coming, but I'd be having a panic attack about thowing a big bash at my place.

Fun! Fun! Fun! I am driving 5 LRRH riders up and back, AuntieK included. I don't mind stopping, but I don't know what the others want to do or can do. AK, perhaps we can get the others home, get showered and go back up to SLC??

Oooh, now there's an idea! I'll have to see how it plays out with DH!

get showered Priorities!!! Food and fun, then showers. I choose to be grimy and fed and conscious rather than the opposite of all three. It ain't a pretty site.

Did we ever tell you about the time yellow and I were staggering around Fred Meyer in Bend trying to shop for the next day's breakfast before we'd had dinner after a long mountain bike ride? I thought someone was going to call the cops about these two filthy women who were drunk in public. No, no, food before cleanliness.

Hey, Miss CindySue! We'll take the trailer o' bikes back to Bubba's mom's house, pick her up and take her to the party with us. Just lettin' you know so you can plan accordingly. Have DBF meet you there or at Casa Yellow or whatever.

Which reminds me, you still need the address for Hotel MIL, right?

After last year's LRRH, my friend and I stopped for gas and a Coke at a gas station in Brigham City. There were these senior citizen/farmer guys in the store and I could hear them say "They've got NUMBERS on their backs". It cracked me up.

I don't need a shower before I party, but if I am going to drive clear to Utah County to drop off my other friends, I am going to stop at my house and shower :) And if I do get a chance to shower, I will not say rude things about the non-showerers ;)

Besides there is SO MUCH FOOD at LRRH that I will be full and caffinated for the trip home. . .

I need to run it by Mr. Tater, but I don't think he'd mind at all.

Anybody staying at the Logan Crystal Inn, maybe we could carpool.

I already told yellow to give me a "to do" list to help her pull off the feat.

We are there and bringing our two friends from Sandy (since you said so :p ). So chalk us up for four. Shall we bring more beer in addition to grub or just some grub?

sk -will call you when we arrive for the address.

Ummmm, my house is old and was built before the days of indoor plumbing, but it has been remodeled to include not one but TWO SHOWERS! :p You can always bring your little bag-o-shampoo & stuff and shower here. I don't think you should drive all the way home & then back again...just stop on your way. We'll take care of you!

Was that the same day we ate almost an entire bag of iced molasses cookies after the ride but before leaving the parking lot?

I just remember how good those cookies tasted.

Yellow, you are very kind. Please don't think I am going to drive home just to shower. I am not THAT concerned with cleanliness (you should see my house  ) I only mentioned the shower thing b/c I may need to bring some of those I am taking to LRRH back to Utah County b4 coming to your house, and if I am within few blocks of my house anyway, I would stop for 10 minutes. . .

Yes. We ignored the weight control rule that says you shouldn't shop when you're hungry.
This is a rule? But I'm always hungry. Does that mean I need to make Mr Yellow do all the shopping? ;)

Eeek! I've hijacked my own thread. BACK TO PARTY PLANNING NOW!

We'll have plenty of homebrew. However, I was also planning on having mojitos available as well as beer/soda/water. If you'd like to contribute to the mojito effort, you (or someone) could (conveniently) pick up a bottle of light rum in Cali before you leave since it's double the price here...

Just a thought! Not required.

Okay, Mr. Tater has graciously agreed to accompany me to Casa Yellow. We are not alcohol, or soda drinkers, do you mind if we bring some sort of iced tea, or whatnot to share? Do you need any other kind of food stuffs?

Tea or whatnot would be great. I know there are others that will be there that don't drink alcohol or won't want to drink, so tea would be a great addition. (Note that I have a whole box of the Lipton cold brew in a pinch.)

As for foodstuffs, just bring something to share with the group. Fruit salad ala Fred Meyer (aka Smith's Marketplace) perhaps?

SLC Airport is a Delta hub. Have you tried http://www.delta.com/home/index.jsp? Airport is close to Casa Yellow. I'm sure someone could pick you up. Just don't schedule the return flight too early Sun am.

Southwest flys into SLC for less than an arm & a leg ... and I imagine someone could be talked into picking you up. Especially if she hasn't hit the mojitos too hard yet.

just sayin

So.....I actually considered showing up, just to maintain my rep of not riding but coming to the party. But, I won't finish up with the LifeCycle Orientation day until 6 pm, get back to San Jose by 7 - pfft. Won't see SLC until midnight or so.

Would've been fun to see your faces......:D

Nope, no excuses. I just spoke to Lora who had 3 spots reserved on the trailer. The husband of a friend just bought a big RV so he could haul his wife and 4 other women out there.

She also has the hotel room at the Crystal Inn in Logan with 2 queen beds. She won't cancel the room until I've heard from you. Sounds like plans are falling into place for a few last minute changes of plan.

yum! We have a cuban restaurant here that makes the yummiest razzberry mojitos (and every other flavor you can imagine). I'll bring regular light rum and some razzberry flavored for the adventurous.

Tea it is! We can hit Freddy's on the way down and get some salad as well. Cool!

Um, um ... hopefully my car mates (Jo & Marty) will have ideas on what to bring. But as a scenic rear, so to speak, I'll be fashionably late - what time does the course close? The party's all night, right?

SadieKate

You think you'll be late? We have a boat load of bikes to wait for.

I sure hope she'll let us be late for this very important date.

Oh rats, that hadn't occurred to me.

Well, if the bike bus is going to be waiting for me to finish in order to be able to load up my bike and take off to help set up the party, I'd best opt for the 60 mile after all.

I'd only try to do the 100 mile if there wasn't any big time pressure. I'll be too stressed out otherwise.

05-29-2006, 08:36 PM
Anyone know if it will be possible to start riding before the 8 am start? If registration opens at 7, it seems one (a slow one who needs to finish before the Bike Bus leaves) could start riding earlier....??

SadieKate
05-29-2006, 09:43 PM
What are they going to do if you start early? Tell you the rest stop isn't open. Just start with full bottles (which you do) and some extra food (which you do). There are small communities all the way along the route if you get in a jam and need food, but I suspect that by the stop in Lewiston you'll be on target. The biggest challenge will be elephants. This is rural but not so rural that there are lots of strategic bushes.

Remember also, that there is a 20 mile loop after Lewiston, UT (you ride 20 miles into Idaho and back to Lewiston, UT). If you feel that you're way behind schedule, cut out the 20 miles. You've still got 80.

This effort for this ride is on par with Bike Around the Buttes. I think you'll do fine. The bike bus has to go home, store the bikes in the garage and pick of the MIL so we're going to be late anyway. But I suspect our hostess will be very forgiving. Maybe those of us with the Bike Bus can just get all our potluck shopping done Friday morning and dump, er deliver, it before the ride.

Jo, Veronica, Kim , CindySue, Cyndi, Yau Ming and Marty -- if you're willing, I'll just do a big old list of assigned shopping in the morning and divy up the cost. How's that sound?

Veronica

I feel so out of the loop on all the planning. Stupid computers... anyway. Whatever you do is fine by me SK. Just tell me where to be and when and how much money to give you. (within reason of course!) :p
