Duck on Wheels

Yay! I'm back on the road. :D
First I took UK Elephant with me to spin class this morning. That gave her a chance to
- practice clipping and unclipping, and
- check how her new shoes fit through an hour of pedalling. If they hadn't fit, she could still return them. Last chance today, tho. Luckily, all went well.
Then UK took the car to do some shopping, so I took the bike out to do mine. Rode to the hospital and back to get some prescriptions filled and check on my appointments. Made it up most of the hills. First one I clicked my way down a gear at a time, made it to the top, stayed in a low gear as I caught my breath, then peeked to see where I was at gearwise ... I'd left the front gear in 3! No wonder I was out of breath! The rest were easier but for two, one where I hit a stop light halfway up the hill and one steepish hill on the way home. I walked the tops of those, but I still had plenty of gears left (hadn't shifted down to 1 yet on the front) so I prob'ly could have sat them out if I'd been more determined. Anyways ... all in all about 10 miles. So now that the weather is ok and my bike is back, it should be no problem commuting on days I'm going to the office (6 miles each way). And a longer ride on weekends :)
