Hi guys,

We've(the whole network of people ) been asked by our coach if we want to do the Perth Half marathon and has passed on a training regime if we are interested. (this is besides the varying runs during the week)

As a new runner, should i even think about it or wait until next year? I am doing the City to surf-12km run in August-and that seems pretty normal....

Please let me know if i'm nuts to even consider a half at this stage....

Hey CC - cant give any advice here just wanted to say enjoy the City to Surf. I have done that one a few times and really enjoyed it (hmm except those hills near the start).

Is the half part of what use to be called the Perth Peoples Marathon?

If its the same one I did the Marathon years ago and it was really well supported and organized.

I guess the question is what distances are you running at the moment?

If its not far off the half distance I would say go for it.

go for the half. :p just run it slower / train up to it slowly. it should be fine if you're already doing 12k.

Go for the half! I think you'll do just fine! Sometimes having a goal like that is just what we need to try something different. The first time I started really running I set my sights on a marathon (only 5 months after I started running regularly). I like to go big- so I say you should go big, too! Good luck!:D
