Am looking into purchasing a pair, but not sure about sizing. Have read that they run big. Does anyone own a pair?

Thanks in advance:)

They are not a performance fit, the sizing is more of a xs, sm, med, lg format. I think the "smalls" fit a woman's 6/7. The pair I borrowed for a day seemed true to fit. I wear a pretty true, though low-volume, 6.5, and wore the smalls for hours and hours. They felt a little big, but I have skinny feet, and they are supposed to fit up to a 7. I'd say try them on, with socks, without, as the material is pretty soft and offers a unique, but comfortable, experience.

I have a pair of the Caymans (http://shop.crocs.com/pc-16-4-cayman.aspx?reqid=16&reqProdTypeId=41p&subsectionname=footwear&section=products), and they do run big. I bought the M8/W10 size for my size 10 (sasquatch ;) ) feet, and they're a bit too long and too wide. They're still pretty comfortable, but I wish I had gotten a size smaller.

I tried some on in a store (don't remember the model), but we had to go up a size from my norm for them to fit. WIsh I remembered more details - I'd for sure attempt to try them before you buy them...

Dunno SK - People love them, though. They felt like they were sticking pins into the bottoms of my feet *with thick socks on.* Hence, why I didn't purchase them. To each her own:)

I couldn't wear them for sizing issues...I'm a 7.5-8 depending on the type of shoe. I tried the small and medium, but the small were much too small and the mediums a tad too long and WAAAAAAAAAY too wide. My foot is slightly on the narrow side, but not to the extent that I can't normally wear a medium width shoe. When I tried them on there was actually someone from the company at the LBS and she said that they don't work too well for skinnier feet.

I can't speak for the adult sizes, but kids sizes run pretty true. It seems like just about everyone has them here in MS. And - the summers are really hot. I don't have a pair, but everyone raved about them last year. They are very durable, too.

anyone think these would be good for a walkabout in Australia? I need something I can wear in or out of water that stays on 'cause I'm whitewater rafting too...

Dunno about the crocs, but sounds like a good pair of tevas or chacos would fit the bill.

Wow - thanks for all the input ladies:)

I'm a flip flop gal around the house (and for gardening), but wanted to invest in something a bit more supportive, and of course, for gardening, they would be ideal. I'm also a sasquatch foot (amelia!!), and tend to wear an 11 in my running shoes, but think I'm going to try the 10's for size. I have a wide foot, so perhaps I'll do better with a 10. They come in so many fun colors, and I just love something I can slip on and off with ease. My feet sweat even in flip flops (can't escape the heat/humidity in Miami!!), but the Caymans, as well as the other Crocs are suppose to be antibacterial/antifungal so that's a big plus for me - no lady wants stinky piggies, right??!?!?!

Again, thanks for all the help.

Try Keen's. I know that REI carries them. They have several styles, and the sizes seem true to everyday shoes. I use mine for boating, rafting, camping, etc... They will be going to Hawaii next month, and then on Bike Idaho in August. Look 'em up!

They look like plastic but they are more like a foam material. My kids and I wore them when did Disney back in Nov. We logged an average of 8 miles a day of walking and had no blisters at all. They really are unbelievably comfortable.

I wear a size 9 running shoe and a size med croc.

I bought my first pair of Keens for kayaking and thought I would break them in at work one day...They are quick drying especially for water sports but they are so comfortable I cant take them off.
I have 2nd job working retail and we cant wear open toe as it is a home furnishing store but these are okay..6 hours and I felt great...
I cant wait until I can afford a new pair.:D

I love my Crocs!
The foam material softens up with a little bit of wear and mine are super comfortable, I wear them all the time.
I wear a size 8.5 in running shoes and my Crocs are size M (8-9). I bought a pair for my friend for her birthday and her feet are slightly bigger than mine and she also took a size M.

I'm a Keen's fan. LOVE THEM!!!! I was a die-hard Teva fan until I found Keens. Bikerchick68...is there a Nordstrom Rack down in San Diego? I found my three pairs of Keen's up here at the Costa Mesa location last year. I have the Jamestown, Jamestown slides and the Seattles...which I live in. I could do without the Jamestown slides, I wish I had just gotten two pairs of the Jamestown since they are easier to hike in. Oh...my point about Nordstrom Rack was that you can usually find them for half price there. If I recall correctly I paid under $50 for each of my pairs.

Just a little update . . . I purchased a pair of Crocs and I must say, they're incredibly comfortable. Actually ended up ordering an additional pair - one for gardening and the other for casual wear. I'm hooked. Although, I may have to invest in the Keen's now - they look comfy as well.

I love my Crocs too!

One caution though...they tend to be a bit slippery when it's raining, so I would be leary about using them while rafting etc. Other than that, since I bought my first pair over a year ago, I rarely wear any other shoes, except of course my Sidi's :)

I have wide feet 7.5-8 D, so they are very comfortable for me. I have the Women's M (8-9).

My friend who has MS has sworn by these shoes. They work for him. i have a pair of the sandles that they make and love them during the summer. You can wear them in water no problem and they don't harbor bacteria either.

Except they were made with boaters in mind. I don't find mine to be slippery at all.

I've had a pair for a few years now. Bought them for use in the river, but I wish I had got the ones with open toes so pebbles could slide out easier. I noticed my dad had his on this year on the river, and was raving about them. They are very comfortable, and I throw them in the washing machine when they get too icky from the garden. I have also been known to put them in the top rack of the dishwasher, but without the heated-dry cycle on. You can also sterilize them with bleach or throw them in boiling water to sterilize, too. (That's why nurses like them.)

I could never do plastic shoes, either. Remember Jellies--all the little girls were wearing them a few years ago, and I just couldn't imagine it. But Crocs aren't plastic, and have none of the problems with stinky or sticky that plastic does.

I've moved on to Chaco sandals this year, but my Crocs stay right by the door at the ready for a trip around the garden.

I live in Maryland and I got a pair last fall and wore them all winter long (except for snow days) and loved them with socks on. I can't imagine wearing them during the summere in "Toad Tunnel Town" (where I went to school). My feet get a little sweaty and then they just feel icky. But a great winter or cool weather shoe with a pair of socks!

I LOVE MY CROCS!!!!! I have worn Danskos for years b/c of foot problems and when I bought the crocs I thought I would just use them for after biking or running to bum around in, I wear them ALL the time now! they are as good as my Danskos for support and the little nubs in the bottom actually massage your feet.

If you find yours are slippery are you sure they are crocs? I tried another brand on and they were very slippery inside, I thought I might save a few dollars getting that pair but didn't buy b/c of the slipping.

I wear a size 9 and have a medium croc. they have flip flops now and they are comfy too!!

They are ugly! But they are compfy and that's that! Have you seen the sandles? They are not ugly, they don't come in as many colors but they are not as ugly. My husband said the sandles were easier to look at and he was glad I got those and not the clogs. Mine are red.http://www.zappos.com/n/p/dp/2789593/c/559.html

This spoile girl has Crocs (red) and Keens (purple!). On the river, I feel more stable in my keens. The Crocs are a little loose and I wouldn't want to watch one float down without me!

I leave for my bike tour tomorrow, still can't decide which pair to take!

Ok, thanks to you all, I bought a pair of Crocs for my standing/walking all day job, after faithfully wearing Burks for 20 years.

I love them. But they are wide!! I have to wear thick socks with them. I have lime green, but now I want more...I wish they came in purple! Pink will have to do.

Just wondering....

My mom has diabetic neuropathy & has tried many types of shoes, but, she still suffers quite a bit.

She's not "old" (74), but, because of her symptoms, she's not 100% steady on her feet. She said that sometimes the bottom of her feet feel like cardboard & that hundreds of bees are stinging that area. (numbness, burning, stinging).

Do you think she might feel too unbalanced on these?

Thanks for your advice:) !!

Hi Denise,

I've been with several people that when they first try on Crocs, they don't like the "nubs" on the inside of the shoes. They try them on, and then decide they don't like them. These are people without the problems your mom suffers from. Those "nubs" might either make her feet hurt worse or maybe could help, but I don't know...

Look at the top view of the shoe and you'll see...
http://www.crocs.com/products/footwear/anatomy.jsp

As far as stability, I feel stable in my Crocs. And they are also wide as Nanci said. If your mom has a narrow foot, that could be a problem, but I would ask an "orthopod" to see what they would say about any stability issues, etc.

I saw tons of friends wearing them at a music gathering last month. I tried some Crocs on last year, thinking of buying them. Now, my second toe is slightly longer than my big toe, and the Crocs have a hole RIGHT EXACTLT THERE, so that my second toe sticks right out the hole in front!!! Too weird. They seemed AWFULLY wide and floppy even when I had on a pair short enough for my toe to stick out. I have long narrow feet with high arches.

I'll stick with my trusty high-arch Keens, thanks...

I tried the Crocs, but found them too wide and stiff. Check out Holey Soles (http://www.holeysoles.com/flashsite/main.htm). Mine are sooooper comfortable! I wear a 5 1/2 or 6 shoe and got an XS. They fit great, have good support, good traction on wet and uneven surfaces, dry quickly, and for me are much more comfortable than the Crocs

I got a pair of Keens for canoeing last year. They are very stable and non slippery, but they are heavy. This year, I was looking for a pair of very light sandals to bring on my bike tour, because the lunch stops are "on your own," i.e. the support van will not drive up to give you your shoes like they did on my last tour, and I don't want to walk around in my road shoes. I ended up buying another pair of Keens, in a different style. They are the ones in the Terry catalog (or maybe it was Athleta). I didn't want to buy them on line, though, because I had no way of telling how much they weighed. On a whim, I went into a shoe store in Concord center that sells mostly European brands and is super expensive. There were the sandals, on sale! I have been living in them all summer and wear them as soon as my bike shoes come off. My husband is so jealous that he can't find anything like them in men's sandals.

Hi Judy!

Thanks for your info on the Crocs shoes...

If there are 'nubs' on the inside of the shoe, I can't imagine that for my mom she'd find them comfortable at all.

She is in so much pain and more often than not, can't wear anything on her feet - (which can lead to serious problems...) I was just hoping that these might be good, since I've heard so much about them.......

Have a great day all!

Hmmm, I like the nubs! If those shoes were made specifically for diabetic feet, don't you think they'd have taken the sensitivity into consideration? Wouldn't hurt to just try them on...

Diabetic Comfort Shoe

Protective toe cap, elevated heel rim and super soft foot bed

The Cloud, by CrocsRx, is specially designed with the diabetic foot in mind. The super-soft foot bed provides a gentle environment for sensitive feet, while the roomy toe box allows for use of a heavy sock without creating any tightness or pressure points on the foot. In addition, the protective front toe cap and elevated heel rim protect the diabetic foot from stubb(ing?)

Dunno about the crocs, but sounds like a good pair of tevas or chacos would fit the bill.

I do a lot of canoeing as part of my job, and I like Keens. They are water sandals with a "toe box" thatprotects the tootsies when you're wading through the water...

I've tried both Chacos, and Tevas, too, and they are both good, but I just find that the Keens are a little more comfy and meet my needs a little better.:)

Hi Kathryn,

I think you NEED the yellow Crocs to go with your 10/2 shirts!! What I want is the green ones since my bike is green (and yellow) and it's my favorite color. I have a cycling buddy that will NEVER let me hear the end of it cuz he's always ribbing me for being so color coordinated when I'm on the bike!! I just felt I should mention that I read a news story a few months ago about how quite a few women and children were getting foot/toe injuries from their Crocs getting caught in escalators. Apparently the soft rubber easily gets pulled into the cracks. Please be careful to keep your feet away from all the edges of escalator steps and step off carefully- And warn your kids about this. :(

Tuckervill
01-12-2007, 06:57 AM
Thanks, Lisa!

I'm a believer, because once my son (6 at the time) got his Nike hi-top caught in an escalator in a JCPenney store. He was two steps up from me, and I had his 4 yo brother on my back, and shopping bags hanging from both arms. As I saw what was about to happen when he reached the top, I leaped the remaining 4 steps, piggyback-kid and all, slipped the bags off my right arm, stretched out and grabbed his arm at the armpit and lifted him off the escalator, just as he neared those scary teeth at the top.

I've never felt such an adrenaline rush before or since. Adrenaline was the only explanation for being able to make that leap, loaded down as I was, and pick him up with one arm, with the escalator holding his foot.

His shoe was built like a Converse All-star, with the rubber cap on the toes and the thick rubber edge. Just the short time it was pinched between the sidewall and the steps gouged the rubber edge on the top and bottom clean through, and his little toe was being pulled in. I can't imagine what an escalator would do to a Crock shoe.

Thankfully his toes weren't damaged. I held it together long enough to get the manager to give us (I was a low-income single mother at the time) a new pair of shoes (because those were his school shoes that I had just bought and it could have been a lot worse and cost the store a lot more). And then when we got in the car, I burst into tears. ::whew:::

I don't know about the crocks getting caught in escalators. But crocs were intorduced to me before they became the in thing. My friend who had been diagnosed with MS found them on a trip to Boulder (where they were first sold). They have really helped him a lot! The lightness of them has made it easier for him to walk. And I have a friend who is a Dr and she wears them and says when she does surgary (her don't have the holes) her feet stay very comfy. I just got diagnosed with Morton's nueroma and read the croc's are good for people with Morton's. I have a pair of the sandles which I like very much but my favorites are the flip flops! My dh thought I was crazy to spend that much on flip flops. But I can wear them all day doing all sorts of stuff and my feet do not get tired or sore in them. I loooooovvvve them! And recommend them highly!

I personally don't like these things, they don't fit me at all and I don't like the way they look. However I recently returned from a trip to Puerto Vallarta and was very surprised to find a Crocs store down there. Since they originated literally 1,000 yards from where my husband works, I thought it was kind of cool that they had migrated all the way down to Mexico, even if it was in a totally Americanized tourist city. I still think of it as supporting local business because they are local to me. (Same with Izze soda, which I DO love!) :D
