I did it!! I finished my first triathlon today and I couldn't be happier.
It was a 250 meter swim, 12 mi bike, and 5K, so it was obviously manageable.
For anyone who's new - I just want to tell you to stick with it! It's probably the proudest moment I've ever had, and you feel so special as people cheer you on. It's definitely one of the coolest things I've ever done.
My swim was pretty awful, as I've never taken swimming lessons in my life, and have been relying on my boyfriend, videos and books to teach me how. Not to mention, the 70 degree water was shocking! But the bike and swim were better than I expected - 16.6 mi pace on the bike and 9:51 mi pace on the run. Since there were only 5 people in the 20-24 age group, I ended up finishing 2nd, which my boyfriend and I got a pretty good laugh out of. The girl ahead of me in my age group finished 20 minutes before me just to give you an idea...
Anyway, thanks for all of your wonderful posts - even though I don't post very often, I definitely read everything you ladies say! You rock!
:) P.S. - I wore the tri-shorts, which of course, were perfect. No problems at all - thanks for the feedback!
