Here's lake zurich, and the accompanying hillside, my usual haunts...

Yeah, Switzerland is lovely. In 1982 I biked from Geneva up through Basel and North to Germany and along the Rhine to Bonn. Beautiful landscape and nice people especially in the small towns. :)
Thanks 4 awakening the memories, Alpinerabbit

Wow Rabbit, what a lucky snow bunny you are!
Those are beautiful views
I was trying to think if I could top that one, so here goes, probably Bavaria´s most famous sight: :D

Yep, been there - but a bit far to ride on your bike to from Munich, eh?
We tend to get the train out of Munich first for long rides and avoid the boring bits, so it´s not too far at all.
We have also skied through Linderhof (another one of mad King Ludwig´s castles) in winter, but I did´t have any photos of that handy.

Alpinerabbit -- you are one lucky bunny...my HB and I over Easter weekend drove thru Germany, stayed in Heidelberg area and then onto Switzerland for 5 days. We spent some time near Zurich and were in awe of Lake Zurich, it was caribbean blue. Then we stayed in Glarus to visit with an uncle in Schwanden and it was stunning. We hiked and hiked, drove around, saw the Wallenzee (sp?) and it was stunning. The waterfalls coming off all the mountain sides are so spectacular to look at as the snow begins to melt. IT is such a beautiful country!!!

Me too!
It looked pretty much like that in 1982.It was even more amazing because as a teenager in the 70's I had a poster of it on my bedroom wall.
Well, I suppose it was cheeky of me to post the castle. It´s Schloss Neuschwanstein, otherwise known as "the Disney castle" by many tourists.

Seriously, though, we did ride there - got the train to Murnau and then cycled to Füssen via Oberammergau and the Plannsee.
Until this year it used to be free to take bikes on the local trains; it´s still quite cheap, so we often head out into the coutryside before starting a ride.

I have done that castle in sand so many times! We don't always have the time to do every detail but it's close. This is 75 ton's of sand at about 17 feet high and 28 feet long. The back ground is photo shop.

WOW BRANDI!! That is awesome... And of course so is the real one! Seeing those pics makes me really miss germany! I haven't been back to see my family in many years, and I just love it!! Everytime we go to Las Vegas I make Tony take me to the Hofbrauhaus because it's the closest thing I have to Munich. They did a great job on the one in Vegas, even fly over bands to play for a month at a time...
Anyhoo... I'm just whistful.. Beautiful country!!
And the sand castles.. YOu ROCK Brandi!! So cool!
