Hi All,
Finally got my new bike last night and rode it this morning! It is a 2005 Trek Pilot 5.0 in the Silver color!! It rode like a dream come true. I picked up some Nike Mtb shoes(as that is all this shop had but I liked the fit/feel) and spd Shimano pedals, and seemed to have no problems clipping in as I am a newbie to all of this. It felt pretty good as far as fit but not 100% sure being new. This LBS was not the best as far as customer service and fit. It was two young guys doing everything and they didn't even measure me. I got fitted at another shop 2 hrs away and then decided to order from my local Trek dealer to save me some milage etc. I'm not sure if I will need a smaller stem as they did the look down at your tire to see if you see the axle kind of measuring, which I did and could se it on the top bars but not over the brakes? The seat I'm not sure of too as it felt good for just my short ride today but I had my new Pi Ultrasensors on and just elated to have my bike. I think I was sitting more frontward on my girly parts but only a long ride probably will decide this? I'll give it a good week or two as I'm new to biking but the dealer said they could order and credit me seat change out. Our other Specialized LBS was awesome where I went for the shorts and they do free bike fittings there so I may ask for their advice as I also bought bike computer there. They had one with cadence on it for not much more than the regular at the Trek shop. They also said all the workers there ride Eggbeaters and recomended them but my Trek dealer didn't hardly have any choices but the pedals I got seemed fine. I did get the numb foot on my short ride today even when moving foot inside. I will try to move back the cleat on my shoes as I felt I was riding on the front too much. Do I have to move both back as one was fine? Other things I am looking to ad is a light and some sort of rear view mirror if you have recomendations? I think she might be named the Silver Bullet as she was fast and she is Silver. I think I will have to take on a new name too like Bike Queen as I am nicknamed Queen of the house here being I am mom to 3 sm. boys and Dad. Thanks and I promise I will try to send pictures tomorrow.
Yours Truly,
