I just saw Dad, I think, stand up and rustle around. One egg has a hole in it.

Around 5PM Eastern Daylight Savings Time, which is 4 hours later than Eagle time.

he's probably saying - "hey - come sit on these things and give me a break" or "where are you????"

My son (age 2) is getting a huge kick out of this. He's now imitating the eagle.

maillotpois - did you get it to work?

I'm gonna try - I have to mute first. I am in a meeting with a consultant who happens to have a wireless so I was surfing while he is getting info for me.

OT: So cool - we're meeting at this guy's home office and he has 3 mini horses, one of whom has a 1 week old baby - oh my gosh so CUTE!!!!

DrBee
04-26-2006, 02:41 PM
screen is black again.

mini horses - like shetland ponies? They are awful cute!

So - you're in a meeting, looking at eagles and on TE. Very cool!

I came home early today - hurt back.

SOrry about your back. These are true mini horses. Smaller than ponies. The foal is smaller than my labrador.

That is so cool! Can you take a picture?

I hurt my back on my daughter's bunk bed - my back hit the bottom of the top bunk rail when I stood up from reading her a bedtime story last night. Ouchie! I'm sitting here with a heating pad on it. I want to go out and ride - I don't see that happening for a couple of days. And - it's supposed to rain this weekend. May tomorrow will be better.

What's that sound like a flushing toilet in the background? It sure would've freaked me out to hear loud toilet flushing so close by while I was giving birth to my babies. ;)

DrBee
04-26-2006, 03:08 PM
I think it's the wind over the microphone. I was thinking more along the lines of waves - but I think flushing is perhaps more accurate.

My daughters, 4 and 2, are fascinated. They just saw the eggs, and loved it!

I just tuned in the eagle, and she got off the nest. There were 2 eggs and one fluffy moving thing - I take it there used to be 3 eggs???

04-26-2006, 06:15 PM
Oooh! Ooooh! What's happening?

DrBee
04-26-2006, 06:23 PM
I thought there were only 2 eggs. No idea what the fluffy thing was. Down maybe? Uh - I guess it wouldn't be moving, though. According to the eagle forum - no babies yet.

Nanci
04-27-2006, 02:44 AM
Only two eggs. I don't know what the fluffy moving thing was. They've been putting some white feathers in the nest. Maybe it was dinner.

It's still pitch dark there, and they just did the first switch, and there are clearly two eggs, no baby yet.

Late births! Aargh the anticipation. It's almost (not) like waiting for my kids to be born (5 and 11 days late)

OH NO! poor birdies... it's raining! so i have to assume cold too???????? ok.... maybe they can wait and hatch tomorrow then... when the weather could be nicer?????

As I well know, babies never come when you expect them. They don't respect anybody else's time table, and they keep their families and friends on edge for weeks. These eagle babies are acting a lot like the ones that I help get born! I can't watch lately--screen just blank. I'm relying on you eagle-aunties to spread the good news! :)

DrBee
04-27-2006, 10:15 AM
They look very serious. I guess if you're that impressive of a bird that you must maintain an aire of dignity and superiorness ;)

Well, maybe later tonight we'll see some action! I'm going home...

DrBee
04-27-2006, 03:10 PM
Okay - seriously - what is that flushing sound? Last night I thought it was wind, but now I'm not sure.

DrBee
04-27-2006, 03:16 PM
I just had a thought. How gross is this going to be when they start bring in "food" for the little buggers? Pieces and parts of this, that and the other. Oooh - the carnage! This is going to be good!

maillotpois
04-27-2006, 04:45 PM
"Mom, they just look serious because of their beaks. If you had a beak like that, you'd look serious, too."

They just traded off. 2 eggs.

DrBee
04-27-2006, 04:52 PM
I think these eggs are never going to hatch! I wonder what the eagles are thinking now.... hhhrmph I keep cleaning this nest and sitting here, sitting here, sitting here, hmmmm - wonder what that flushing sound is???

Nanci
04-28-2006, 06:37 AM
People on the eagle forum are saying they are duds- if the babies don't get out within 24 hours of pecking the hole, they don't have much of a chance. I feel like crying. I feel like not watching any more...Good thing the birds won't know what happened, or miss the babies, or anything.

Nanci

DrBee
04-28-2006, 07:23 AM
Are there holes in both? I thought the 2nd egg wasn't supposed to hatch until today anyway. Don't give up yet, Nanci. They may still may still make it out of the eggs. Optimism Nanci - optimism :)

Nanci
04-28-2006, 07:48 AM
Well, whoever was on there just stood up, and the hole in the front egg looked a lot bigger. Apparently this pair's eggs usually hatch on the 38th day, not the 35th, so there still could be hope, but there is also the issue of there having been holes for quite a while. But maybe those weren't really holes, maybe just someone's wild imagination...

DrBee
04-28-2006, 08:39 AM
A bigger hole is good news! I sense optimism in your post ;) I've been out running around and at meetings this morning - checked in first chance I've had. What date does the 38th put for hatching? Ooh - at least the weekend is coming and it'll be easier to keep an eye out for babies.

We need to think positively - there WILL be babies! If not, then I think we'll all need a big group hug - and lots of chocolate. ;)

i swear to gawd i saw a baby head sticking out of one of the eggs during the last switch! hopefully someone at that eagle forum got screen shots!

i'm not the only one.. there are a few threads saying the same thing!

I wouldn't call it a head, but fuzzy stuff for sure. Unless it's bits from the nest that were stuck to the shell. But I would tend to think it was something from the inside of the egg.

I have to say... if those eggs are "duds" I'm going to be heartbroken... I know it's silly... but dangit... I feel like they're family now... :(

please, please... hatch babies...

I'm trying hard to think positive thoughts...:o

Why is it that those birds are ALWAYS laying down when I look.???

Nanci
04-28-2006, 03:21 PM
I just saw mom/dad stand up- and had a clear view of the eggs, but the gray fuzz is really hard to tell if it's a baby, or something stuck to the egg, or a piece of nest in front of the egg...I'm not convinced yet.

DrBee
04-28-2006, 04:13 PM
I finally got to see something dark on the egg. Maybe it was the hole, maybe it was the fuzz. Now the video is stuck again. But at least I got to see something other than the bird sitting down. I thought I heard egg cracking sounds. Who knows?

Nanci
04-28-2006, 04:48 PM
I don't find eagle watching the slightest bit relaxing any more :-(

Duck on Wheels
04-28-2006, 06:11 PM
I'm pretty sure the fuzzy stuff that was waving about in front of one egg earlier today was not attached to the egg. It was something in the nest. I saw pappa or mamma turning the eggs and the fluff got pushed aside. When the eggs were turned I saw one (of the) hole(s), a smallish one. What I'm wondering now is whether one of the chirpy/squeeky noises I was hearing when the wind wasn't so loud might have been a chick chirping from inside the egg. It was more "raw" and seemed closer than the songbirds in the background. Anybody else think they're hearing chick sounds?

Nanci
04-29-2006, 04:48 AM
I just saw the replay of the "little head." It is definitely a piece of nest fluff, not a head poking out. Good switch, though, someone brought dinner home!

Now I am going riding, so will miss when it goes live this morning. Hope there is good news when I get home.

The property owner apparently has a much better video quality, and told news people he could see the baby _inside_ a hole in the egg. Yesterday.

Hi Girls,

If you see anyting, please post. I can't bring up anything; I am on a different computer than usual, old "dial up"; can't access site; need to know what's going on with our birdies. You TE girls are my only contacts on this computer. Plan to go ridng later today and will check in later.

Eagles rock!!

The two adults just had quite an enthusiastic conversation. Too bad you can't see the live feed right now - it's not too jumpy today.

I wish I could ride today- way too rainy and windy. Instead - I'm sorting through toys and doing laundry. Oh what fun!

DrBee
04-29-2006, 11:29 AM
mom or dad just flew off the nest. Still 2 eggs. There is a black spot on the front egg, but I have no idea if it's a hole or not. There's no fuzz, that's for sure. I really hope they hatch - and soon!

Just came back from my ride. I guess, still no new birdie news.
