Ok. I know I haven't been around much lately (sigh. work work work) but I haven't seen Spazz either. :(
Spazz, you doing ok?
I was actually up in Oakland on Saturday at the Pacific Coast Brewing Company listening to a friend of mine and the band she's a member of play (she's their keyboardist) and I thought of you. I'd have called but don't have your number I don't think.
Mel
I was thinking the same when she showed up on the random members photo on bikejournal...
Spazz, are you alive?

I SMS'ed Trek420 Sunday night to say I'd landed back on US soil. Got a phone call a few minutes later. She and Spazz had been out at a drag show  if I heard right. A benefit. The conversation was hard to follow because every other thing Trek said was driving directions to Spazz. Like "Got your card from Edinburgh. Turn right here. What was that about Jan admiring your newfound climbing ability? Oh, no right turn allowed? Try the next corner then. Were you on a bike ride or a hike? Ok, that's 92 up ahead, and there's a Trader Joe's in Castro Valley." Pretty confusing. Heard Spazz say something in the background, so she's definitely still alive and kicking and learning her way around CA.

She's very much alive.
I saw her Sunday. She dropped by, said hi to the Mae-Mae-dog. We went out to her new-found favorite joint for Mexican food and then an AIDS ride fundraiser at a local watering hole. Yes, bikeless there was some very bad but heartfelt drag with lipsincing in Spanish. So, what's with the eek? There's no need to eek and there's not always drag at gay bars. Next question.
Now I've seen Liza, and endless Barbara's and Madonna's...who knew?
I'm not into bars and don't drink at all , no pool table so just hung out. There was a raffle and Spazz won a Thomas Kincaid print.
Uhm sorry any TE gals who love the guy but he's not an artist, he's an industry.
But hey, makes a great gift :)
I'm thinking low-key introductory get the Spazz out there ride series? Either easier rides or...ride with opt-out shortcut and meetya back at the recovery meal after option.
phew! happy to read she's fine, and I'm hope she still rides some.

I'm still pushing the bay trail for Spazz - since it is a straight out and back there's turn arounds arounds any old place, and it's kind of hard to get lost, with the Bay right there. Or she could stop and hang out at Pt Isabela and watch the pups play while others go out to Richmond and back... might be just the ticket to get our Spazz back in the saddle. And it's generally not so windy in the monring.
Winddance and l are trying to organize another ride either Sat or Sunday morning (early-ish). Whaddya say?

bikerz and all,
I'm game for the bay trail, and you know I like Alameda Creek Trail. This weekend I think I'm spozed to be at DOTR (Day On the Ride) and Sunday unless it's afternoon think I'm booked for lunch.
May 6-7 looks good, I plan to take Bike to Work Day off and see how many refresher stations I can hit :) And any time any day 5/20-28th I'm just taking time off work. But let's ask the spazzdog.

Maybe we should try for Alameda Creek Trail On Saturday...
(Snap - it would be really fun to ride with you - I don't think we've seen each other since you kindly sagged me down Mt. D with a busted spoke!)
So Trek - are you saying you're only available to ride Saturday afternoon?
How about the Bobs? This is your home territory, isn't it Jobob?

Sorry bout the eek. Shoulda been a grin of envy. Not only is there not always drag at gay bars, but gay bars are not the only venue for drag. Norway once sent the Great Garlic Girls as their nominee to the European Song Contest, i.e. as a result of a nationwide phone-in vote. And they deserved the vote of enthusiasm! They were fun, funny, a great spoof on stereotypes ... and had a good song. Too bad the GGG no longer are together as a group (far as I know). I think they eventually went their separate ways after one key member was in a bad car accident and couldn't participate any more. Very tragic. As I recall, he wound up wheelchair-bound, which is tough on anybody but not least on a singer/dancer. Anyways, envious :p hereby added. Consider the  a comment on the bad Spanish lipsincing, campy fun thought that too can be.
Oh, and add another :p of envy for the ride suggestions.

sounds like "European Idol" here? Bet you won't see this on American Idol, from their official website. Wow.

That is very sad. Do you know which one below it is?
Yeah but won't you be here in June? We can do more. Just got e-mail from Maury (sorry TE gals, that's our double Century riding cousin and his equaly fit fiance) who's proposing a low key family ride.
Bikerz, I know I said I'd do DOTR Saturday but I think they would live, so if you're doing ACT and Spazz goes, lemmee know. And Snap, it'd be nice to see you too.

Not exactly. It's a pop song contest. One singer or group/one song per country, selected through national finals. Then a big Europe-wide phone in where each country phones in votes, but not for their own song/singer. It's where ABBA got their big breakthrough way back when.

It was Olav Klingen. I checked their site. Seems they did find a replacement after all, although at the time Klingen was a key performer in comedy routines as well as a singer and I think also choreographer for the group. Seems they're also still popular and do a good show, though I guess they're not in the national spotlight the way they were back when they won the national Melody Grand Prix final, or when Klingen was in that accident. Or maybe it's me who's not paying attention to what's in the spotlights now that I'm middle-aged and out of the loop (or is that old and loopy?).

Looks like I'm going to ride (or keel over trying ) the 3 Bears on Sunday morning, so a nice flat ride Saturday sounds great. Shall we agree on ATC? Where should we meet, and when?
Is Spazz even reading this thread in her honor?
And I think that Trek and Bikeless share the prize of most extreme thread drift for the day! Back on track, you guys!

Hi all.
Yes, it's true I attendend a little benefit with Trek420 that had a drag of a drag show. Sweet guts though.... their hearts in the right place.
I'm in isolation mode... sorry. Having a roller-coaster of moods and not really suitable company. I promise I'll get out there for a ride at some point, but now is not the moment.
I have to visit some friends this Saturday.... don't really feel like going but have renigged (sp) too often already so must go.
Thanks for thinking of me. You're all so sweet. When I dig out of this hole I've dug for myself, I'll see you... promise.
Take care and ride safe.
