I just checked my email and look at what was in my inbox...
An Email from Ironworks productions. SOme of you may remember that I found out I was on the video they showed at the post race breakfast. Well it looks like all of us "end of the nighters" emailed for a copy, and now they are going to come through for us!! How cool is THAT?!
"Congratulations on finishing Ironman Arizona. I have been contacted by
each of you individually about getting a copy of the final finisher,
good news is with three of you we can do this much more economically. I
just need to cover off the costs of hiring an editor to compile, make a
file that will allow us to make a DVD and then do the burning,
additionally there will be shipping charges. If each of you send $30
that should cover expenses of making a DVD and shipping. Once I hear
from all three of you to go ahead I will send out info on where to send
your order.
Best regards, Ironworks Productions."
Suffice to say, I'm STOKED!!! And don't worry, I'll make sure ya'll get to see it. Even if that means shipping it around ala netflix!! ha ha ha
Ah man I'm so happy right now.... I think I'm gonna go ride my bike!:D

I couldn't hold out for sandals any more, and found the old 2005's for a pretty good deal. They are hard to find now. So I bought them!!
My friend who did IMAZ practically with you said something about doing Muddy Buddy with her in May. I hope it works out, it would be fun! So I am at work without her address, so I asked BF to send her a message...I hope she was serious!
Hey, maybe she'll be in that video with you, too!

Ok, this day gets BETTER!!
Not only did I have a FABULOUS ride! It is gorgeous out! The cacti are blooming- even the saguaros. Those are the big daddys we have out here w/ the arms. The birds all seemed very happy, and the lizards were having quite a time as well. Even saw a couple of road runners, a bunch of ground squirrels, a bunny family, and a pack of Javelina off in the distance.
But.... I came in the house and had an email that I won something in this big raffle we have out here. It was really no big deal, some heater/cooler on wheels or something. But hey- I won SOMETHING!! :D
I also had an email confirming that they would send us the finishers video. So I got that 30.00 check in the mail immediatley!
Man, it's just a GOOD day!! I think I'll go buy a lottery ticket! ha ha ha
Hope everyone else is having the same kinda day as I am!
ciao!

My day's better, too! I dug up my Glass Lizard, Russell Junior, because we hadn't seen him in a long time- which is not unusual, he lives underground. Still, we worry when we _never_ see him. He is thriving!
My tortoise has dug his first real burrow! I am so proud of him! And the box turtle is sitting comfortably in tortoise's abandoned cardboard box, atop a pile of cool, damp, freshly-dug soil.
But- a turn for the worse- BF ate the lo mein leftovers I had planned on for dinner.
And then, a turn for the better! I managed to DL the manual for my cyclocomputer which I conveniently locked by accident before I could zero it for day two of my ride- so I had inaccurate mile markers for the whole ride, (and then lost my cue sheet halfway through, anyway- but the course was superbly marked- never needed the cue sheet anyway) plus couldn't get my average speed or time for the second day. It turns out, I rode a 6:40 Century the first, flat, rainy day, and a 6:20 the second, hot hilly day! I am very pleased. I did get to draft in some fast groups the second day, though.
And my DVD of "Shop Girl" arrived today!

Surely this is a good thing in disguise - he owes you dinner now. :D

Unfortunately, he's at work till 3 AM...I live so far from anything, once I get home, I never go back out, usually.

Even better! What I thought was "Shop Girl" is really the first season of Grey's Anatomy!" I know nothing about this series, except I like the chick that was in "Sideways."
_And_ I went outside to hunt dinner for the turtle, and found 26 pillbugs, 5 crickets, and, finally, the mother lode of slugs! Fagalo is so happy now!

Nanci- You remind me of our friend Jen. She's a vet and is always saving something. She has a friend that lives out here who rescues turtles.
I was thinking of you today when I saw all the lizards. It's so funny how I think lizards are cute, but I hate snakes?? I dunno... Maybe cause I know that the snakes we have here are mostly rattlesnakes??
Oh, on my run the other morning I saw a huge tarantula. They used to creep me out, but now I think they are cool when I see them in the wild. Though I don't have much desire to ever touch one. They are like big black fur balls.

Ah, but Nanci, he doesn't have to pay up tonight. You can sucker him with it some day when you really can't be bothered cooking. :D

Hehe, just wait til you come in after a hard competition at midnight, have to get up at 5 for the second day, all you want to do is get a good few hours of sleep in, and through your sleepy eys spot a huge freaking tarantula on your bed!!! (or wall, as in another night) Don't worry, they both were let back out into the wild. I was just thoroughly checking the bed for a few days.

I had a pet tarantula when I was in high school, but I was never _really_ comfortable handling her. I think it would be interesting to see them in the wild, though. Here we have the banana spiders and the golden orb spiders, which make webs so tough you can actually bounce off one, walking, and if you MTB through one, the spider _always_ ends up clinging to the edge of your helmet as you swerve wildly trying to remove her. I'll take rattle snakes any day- at least they either stay put or cross the trail and are gone...
The worst thing to wake up and find on the wall is a giant roach!

The worst thing I ever woke up to was rats fighting inside the wall right next to my head. Would never have guessed they could squeal that loud!

I love this board.
I checked in yesterday while the midwife I'm precepting was writing her note. She's new, and therefore, slow. I have time to go to the TE board! :p I laughed out loud at the passage above. You guys are so cool. I was in the hospital (working) for 22.5 hours straight yesterday, and you all were my little window out into a fascinating world. I love coming here. :)
At the risk of causing an even sharper turn into thread drift--Nanci, what is a Glass Lizard, and why must he be dug up to be checked on? L.
PS: tlkiwi, I agree. Rats are loud! Also roosters. I did an informal, observational study in Jamaica when I was working there for 2 months. Roosters, according to my research, crow for 22 hours a day. Probably in shifts. Or possibly they were just short a rooster to cover the 2-4 AM shift, when there was relative quiet. I was staying in a small town. Really, how many roosters does one community need? By the time I left, I wanted to start a national "Eat More Rooster" campaign! :p
Oh, yeah, and--Denise! YAY! Soooooo looking forward to seeing that video!!!
Nanci--YAY! You found the sandals! Where did you find them? I want a pair, too.
Anybody else....Yes...btchance--YAY! You didn't have to sleep with a tarantula!
:D :D :D
