I have questions about adjusting the nose up or down. Is it recommended and will it solve soreness problems up front(not sit bones). I just got new shorts that have more padding then my old ones and wonder if that could part of the problem. I like the new shorts much better than the old ones so I'm not going to get rid of them. Also if the adjustment isn't recommended do I need a new saddle? I'm currently riding a Specialized Dolce with the saddle that came with it.

Try a slight adjustment (nothing dramatic) and see if it helps. I ride with my saddle nose (on all my bikes) 8 degrees down, and thats just what works for me. Some people go perfectly flat. Just experiment - but a little bit at a time.

And I actually have the nose of my saddle tilted up slightly. We're all different and the setup of the bike comes into play as well.
Exactly 8 degrees MP?! Not 7, not 9 - 8. :D

Actually, it's 8.4, but she rounded it to a whole number because she didn't want you making fun of her. :p ;) :D
Note to self: find out how many degrees self's saddle is tilted because, dammit, now I want to know!

I'll adjust a smidge before my next ride and see how it does.
Sounds like someone is a type A personality around here.:D

That's exactly right!! :D :D
I went for a bike fit, making a new bike fit like the old bike. I had "broken in' the old bike, and slowly gotten everything so it felt right and I just wanted to mimic the fit. Well, I thought my saddle was flat - but turned out it is 8 degrees down. So that's how I know!!
Wiseacres!
I ended up with a cutout saddle. My girl bits absolutely can't tolerate anything else. I dunno why. I've even tilted my saddle WAY down. Still hurt. I also find heavily padded shorts make things worse instead of better. Go figure.

I think I heard someone say once upon a time that as a general rule of thumb mens seats tilt slightly up, and womens slightly down...

I like mine tipped slightly up, otherwise I feel like I'm sliding forward/off all the time. I think, though, it's either comfortable or it's not- how it hits you. I don't know if tipping it helps. Sometimes I wonder if I slide forward because I need to move the saddle forward a bit, though it seems to be the right palcement going my my kneecap/pedal position...

V.Careful there, my saddle nose is exactly 1 degree down. Measured and documented. Not too far down, not too far up, but just right.
