Storage rack recommendations?

I would've posted this in the gear forum but didn't see a category for it.

I need one of those vertical racks that install between your floor and ceiling and provide storage space for two bikes. Already tried the Topeak Dual Touch and after having it fall twice with two bikes on it (no structural damage, but some scuffing of bar tape and saddle edges), I'm ready to return it and get something more stable and reliable. Any recommendations?

Never a problem, no marks on the wall. You can also hang other stuff on it, like a kayak.

Not sure it is available in the US, but maybe you'll find something similar...

I have a rack for two bikes that I bought from Performance a number of years ago. It leans against a wall as opposed to being a single (floor to ceiling) pole that uses tension. Of course they've changed their products since I bought mine - but looking at their current products, mine looks like the Bike Aloft Storage rack - http://www.performancebike.com/shop/profile.cfm?SKU=2265&subcategory_ID=6600.

I haven't had any problems with this type of rack.

I have 2 of these, and they've worked great! You can actually "hang" off of the bars and they will not fall over. They've survived by 85 lb puppy running around. I was a little worried as to how they would do on hardwood floors, but they've been great! If you catch them right, they put them on sale for a great price. They also have a little accessory bar with hooks that you can purchase separately - nice for gloves, helmet, etc.

I'm a fan of Bikes Aloft 2, as well. So far, I've found it to be very sturdy. The cats would agree -- they haven't managed to knock it over yet.

I want one of those. We'll have 3 bikes to store in my itty-bitty 2 bed apt. After the tax return I'll look into a Bike Aloft. And for only $65, not bad!

Geez, everything right now seems to hinge on "after the tax return". Sigh.
