Seller's remorse....

Sold my beloved BikeE recumbent this morning... and now I'm moping about it. Wish I'd kept my Trek Fast Track (instead of selling it to buy the 'bent), and I'm sure I'll wish I'd kept the BikeE, too (instead of selling it to buy my Kona Dew). Someday, when I have money and space, I'll have a Volae/Brushcetta recumbent AND a Surly Long Haul Trucker. Meanwhile, one under-$400 bike at a time...

And onward to the Danskin Triathlon! Which doesn't allow recumbents.

I feel for you. I have no idea how I'd sell a bike. I get too emotionally attached.

DH announced last night that if we buy any more bikes, we have to sell one first. Humph. We only have two each.

Well, I guess there goes my dream of a Tour Easy...

I am emotionally attached too. I currently have a Trek 2300 that is a 58. I have a friend with a 2100 frame that is a 56 which would fit me better. The frame is exactly the same as mine, other than color. The difference in the bikes is their components, and I would get to keep mine. However I feel like a traitor by swapping to the 56, even though it is a better fit for me. Is that crazy?

I know whatcha mean! I just sold my trusty touring bike that has carried me through all of my riding for the past 10 years... felt like I sold out an old friend. Unfortunately I just don't have the room for more than a couple bikes.

Its hard but try to move forward and your remorse will lessen.

It's hard to let it go, but just try to think of the new person who bought it and how it will enrich their lives. And, you could always tell them you want first right of refusal if they decide to sell it again in the future. :)

the guy who bought it was all happy cuz now he has 2 uprights and 2 'bents. I had a little sigh of envy. But I really did need an upright for the triathlon, and BikeEs really are terribly slow. They are kinda a halfway bent, like the beach cruiser of the 'bent world. At least from that bike I learned that I really love 'bents too, and know what my dream 'bent would be.

I do like my Dew, so I'll do the Dew for a while. :cool:

ROFL - tell DH I live alone and own 4 - presently. I have a MTB, a winter road bike, a summer road bike and a "I can't ride a road bike" comfort bike as my loaner. and my buddy keeps looking out for short vintage bikes just in case 4 isn't enough for me! LOLOL

Well, I only have two right now, but Corsair, your stable seems just right. Aside from the ones you ride, you've gotta have a "guest bike"--I've always kept one on hand. Well, at least one. :)

Hey there Mom... your DH obviously hasn't considered the purpose of different bikes and the need for a decent stable...

Hmmm... I only have three (a racing/training bike and a time trial race/training bike and an off-roader).

Here's what I am working towards...
a road race bike, and a road-race traing bike...
a time trial bike and a time trial training bike
my off-road bike
(plus the SPIN bike of course - none of my fold goes on a stationary trainer!)

Now thats 5... FIVE.... that means you and your DH should have more than 2 each in your stable... you commute, right? So you could have your commute bike, an off-road bike for trails, a specific bike for those long rides you do and another bike set up the same as your century bike for you to train on... thats 4 bikes at least...

You have to go have a chat with your DH... limiting you to just 2 is really quuite unreasonable! :p

To be fair, he said that after the stinky job of cleaning out the shed to make room for his new 'bent. The poor guy probably didn't want to find room for another bike. :rolleyes:

Actually, HE commutes, I walk to work (too close to ride) and work the other job at home. But, yeah, I can think of several bikes I'd like to add to the stable, with a good reason for each one.

And I don't want to sell either Walter or William to get them!
