hi tracy! welcome back... how was your trip?????????

hemet was fun! i was a little worried cuz i only got 3 hours sleep the nigiht before (was busy getting my computer back up after getting a new mobo and harddrive!) but i was fine... actually MOST rides i do are on about 3-4 hours sleep cuz of drive time

it was a cool.... ok.. cold start! on the first climb on ramona i could see my breath! the roads aren't the greatest (warren stinks: cows! the bike lanes on victoria were full of junk (but light traffic)... the traffic in corona near the freeway and again in lake elsinore near the freeway was terrible!... warren stunk again and the return side the pavement was SO bad... BUT... i had a good time and i will do it again next year... the food is good (sag stops are WELL stocked!) the people are nice at the stops and at lunch (the potato salad )was SO good!!!!)

i did decide i can't do upper body weight workouts on wednesday and be ready for a century though... my neck/back/shoulders were SO sore from the lsat rest stop (83 miles) til the end! i assume it was the workout cuz i had really bad DOMS and i didn't have any shoulder/neck/back pain for either PS or stagecoach!)

the day warmed up to just right for me! (although i could have done without the hearvy fleecy top!)

we met a really nice guy that started riding with us shortly after the first rest stop... he hadn't been riding in a while and evil coach hubby gave him (and me) a run for our money! lol! i did the ride in 16.6 mph average (ride time)! that's really good for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i even did good on the few climbs on the course!

oh... the worstest part!?! we rode right by tommy's in corona and they had the nerve to NOT have it designated as a rest stop! the NERVE! i knew we were in corona... but not sure where.. then i saw sam's club and shouted out "we're going to go by tommy's" (i'm sure paul must have thought i was a lunatic! he figured out i liked animals cuz i said "hi puppy" to EVERY dog we went by! and the horses too!)

i now know where canyon lake is! we rode through there too! NICE bike lanes! WIDE!!!!!!!! i announced that too: "tracy lives in canyon lake!"

we dropped paul on ramona but he said keep going since i was doing so good... after hubby got back and turned around and went back to ride in with him (MUCH different than last year when he rode the last 50 miles with one leg cuz he knee was so sore!)

no saddle soreness.... did a 20 mile recovery ride yesterday even! did some light shopping afterwards (of course!)

next up: mulholland in less than two week! EEK! i'm actually VERY nervous about that ride! *shaking*

Hemet. Brings back memories. My granny lived there (since passed on) but I remember visiting her fondly.

Hmmm Caligurl, Between Hemet and Redlands, we just might cross paths someday. I'll probably go back for a visit in June (Redlands) before I start work.

Hey Cali!

Glad you had a great ride! I had a great trip; it was so exciting - although I am SO tired now from dragging the whippersnappers back and forth everywhere! I can't imagine how tired Denise must be if I am as tired as I am!;) I didn't know that this Hemet ride went near our house! Yeah the bike lanes right near our house are great but there are a few areas that are a little close for my comfort! I just looked up the route and ... yup, sure enough! Wow, I could've been cheerin' ya on from just down the street from my house! Sorry I missed it! We are about two blocks in from the main canyon lake entrance (the one with the few restaurants and a market etc). When they finish the construction I will easily be able to ride from our house down the hill and around lake elsinore and back home with mostly great roads and shoulders... can't wait - right now I usually hoof it on down to Temecula; although I have ridden up and down Temescal Canyon a few times too.

I have heard that some of the roads aren't that great on this century. It doesn't seem to bother you too much though! I'd have to agree about the upper body workouts though - AND, it probably didn't help that you had more than the normal amount of rough roads. Your average was GREAT! I think I told you that my avg on my 40 miler a week and a half ago was like 10.5 - It was mostly due to the hills (did you know that I can do 3.8 mph without falling over on a hill!? Not too sure I should be telling anyone that though ;) ) Then I clutched my brakes down every hill... I'm getting better in that matter though! What a goober I am!

You are going to do great at Mullholland! Although I find it better for me not take these things for granted! However, you are really tough mentally and so even if its hard, you'll get it done, I already know that!

I'm gonna have to go find out about this "Tommy's" in Corona now! I worked there for a very short time but don't know much about the area... now I have an excuse to go check it out! ;)

You need to post some pics of your rides chiquita! I love to see everyone doing their rides, it really helps me stay motivated... I've got to say, it was very motivating to be surrounded by so many triathletes this weekend! WOW!

hey Cali... did you see BKD? He was there with a couple friends as well... was gonna do the double but lack of sleep, lack of base miles, and family commitments changed his mind so he did the cent instead. Said he did it in 5:45 I think... way faster than I ride! LOL... he also only got 3 hours sleep, but it hurt him...

I had the same issue at PS... I just have to have a minimum of 6 hours sleep, but prefer 8, to be functional.

My base miles are non-existant now... I rode Sat for the first time in 5 weeks... and may I just say OUCH. LOL... ah, well...

We're supposed to have rain again this weekend  Someday, I'll ride with regularity again...:D

glad you had a good ride... say hi to sir lance for me!

i thought about you on some of the narrower and crummier road parts! cuz i knew you wouldn't have liked it! i think the main reason i had fun was cuz hubby rode with me almost the whole way! i did leave the tom's farm stop ahead of him and paul... but they caught up! (of course.. i knew they would!)

a couple of times hubby commented about what a fast course it was.. i know he woulda done it SO fast this year on his own since he didn't have a bum knee....

no... i didn't see BKD! i wondered if he was there! but assumed if he was he'd be on the second loop by the time we got back in! too bad we missed seeing him!

i'm used to not getting a lot of sleep... considering i get up every workday morning at 4 a.m.... even if i got to bed at 9... that's still only 7 hours... and most times it's closer to 10 before i can get to bed! because of where we live and the ungodly hour i have to get up for a lot of our rides.. it's a good thing i am able to function on less sleep!

our forecast keeps changing... first it was fri and sat rain.. then fri and sun... then fri only... we'll see as it gets closer... we were supposed to have rain yesterday afternoon.. but fortunately didn't (or may unfortunately.. cuz i REALLY didn't want to ride last night.. but i know i HAVE to with mulholland and the rest of the rides coming up!) i'll actually take the rain this weekend if it means it's nice... rainless and windless on the 22nd!

we're still undecided about alpine too! i REALLY want to do it cuz it's such a pretty ride! i was thinking if hubby wants to do the 73 miler (or whaterver it is) that i might do the metric (leave out pine valley and the extra 1000 miles of elevation)... still a lot of climbing in the metric.... but take it "easy" (relatively speaking, of course cuz it's not an easy ride) with it being between mulholland and BA... i did it last year with it being the weekend before BA... but i hadn't just done mulholland the week before! UGH! why are all the rides all in the same 2 months?????????????????????????????????????

i swear we have to give BKD a girlie log in so he can come post here! i miss him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so what's the next ride we may see you and him or at least one of you at? cool breeze? are you planning on doing that still?

i'm glad your mom is feeling good enough that you are comfortable leaving her for short periods of time while you ride! it's good for you and good for her!!!! i'm so happy she's getting better!!!!!!!

tracy.... i thought about you being out there cheering if you hadn't been out of town! i knew it was the kind of cool thing you would do!!!! http://www.smileycons.com/img/emotions/202.gif

i never take any rides for granted! i wrote to PU asking at what mileage the cut off points were.. but haven't heard back from them yet....

hemet was a fast course... i normally do NOT average that speed... i'm lucky to average 15 mph! especially when i'm riding by myself! i tend to do a bit better when i have hubby pushing me (well.. not literally.. but you know what i mean! lol!) and of course.. hills slow me down! i'm slow and steady! i'll get there.. it just may take me a while to do so! my biggest concern is making the time cut offs! you know i'll cry is i don't get credit for KOM because i was too slow!!!!!!!!!!

tommy... OMG.... i LOVE tommy's.. they have the BEST greasy... fattening.. UNHEALTHY chili cheeseburgers and chili cheese fries in the world! they are at the ontario off the 15... turn right for sam's..... left for tommy's! my mouth is watering now! i think i gained 5 pounds just thinking about them!

pictures.. uhm... well... i had the camera with me.. and commented a couple of times that i needed to get it out... but them after tom's farm i had hubby's long sleeve jersey STUFFED in my handlebar bag and couldn't get the camera out without stopping... so i have NO pictures! http://www.smileycons.com/img/emotions/121.gif
