is NOTICEABLE! Holy cow... I rode this weekend for the first time in 5 weeks... and let me tell ya, it was definitely noticeable! AAAAACK! Every rise felt like a climb (especially the first 10 miles!)... I only did a 20 mile ride... still don't want to leave my Mom alone for too awful long... and kept my avg at almost 15mph... but 5 weeks ago it woulda been a no brainer... this weekend it was WORK! LOL...
ah well, I know you lose it fast and gain it fast on the bike... hoping to get some riding in this week after work too... :) Gotta get my legs back!

Here's wishing that you can get out a little more often. I hope your mom's condition will allow you a little time. I usually only get to do short rides, but even those are difficult if you've been off the bike for a while. Like you said - you lose it fast, but at least you gain it back almost as fast :)

I have been off my bike since December 13th! Foot surgery! I went for my first bike ride last Saturday and let me just say this . . . 3 year olds on their trykes could have blown my doors off! I wanted to do 20 miles but ended up doing only 12. By the end of the ride my foot and ankle were killing me. Joe said my good leg was doing all the work. He was watching. He said I will have to concentrate for a while and make sure the weak foot does it's share of pedaling. Maybe by the end of June I will be somewhat recovered.
Here's to the both of us getting our biking legs back Bikerchick68! :D

Susan... oh how I feel for you too! Sounds like the surgery was successful for you? That's good at least...
at least we already KNOW what we can do on a bike... I don't have to fight the "mental" part this time around... just the burning lungs! LOL :D

Oh yeah, I'm there too. I've been off since last October! I did do some spin classes, but no trainer this winter. God I'm a slug. I seem to have endurance still, but lost my speed. You'll get it back!

Went out yesterday for the first time in a few months, this was due to a way too close call of being killed and scared me enough to make me see myself getting ran over next time I go out. Paranoid I know, but it feels so real. I stayed away from the traffic and rode around new subdivision that did not have much traffic and has hills. I just have to get back on. Rode my mtn bike to work today. Out of breath and energy sooner then before.

Autumn... it's great that you got on the bike again... I have had some close calls and sure don't take it for granted... I never assume anyone has actually seen me... even when they make eye contact! I automatically give cars I can see the right of way... and keep my fingers crossed that the ones coming from behind me know I'm there!
Hope your commuting goes well for you...:)
