Whew! This has taken up entirely too much of my time. I promise - no more talk about sunglasses. I went with the Zeal Zinks - pink :) Thanks for all the help. Who knew there was so much technology in sunglasses.

I'm laughing because I just read Ladyjai's "Buy the Best" post.

I don't want to wear my $100 glasses riding!

This afternoon UPS delivered my package from safetyglasses.com. I ordered four pairs of full wraparounds in different frames/ lenses--dark grey to almost clear. They are UV with virtually unbreakable lenses (safety glasses, duh!)

All FOUR pairs plus shipping cost around $30.00. I am doing an experiment to see how they work as riding glasses. They may be terrible. But at that price so what-- I can use them when I'm cutting tree limbs or using my power tools!

Good for you! I went for the $100 variety. I kept thinking about that post while I was searching for glasses. I was pulled towards the Rudy's, but thought better of it. Apparently I have a narrow head, so I think the Zeal Zinks are about the only thing that will fit me right. We'll see. I thought about the safety glasses option, but I wear them at work (when I venture into my lab - which doesn't happen much these days) and that's quite enough for me. They have much better styles now, though. I was watching Dirty Jobs the other night and some people on the show had some pretty nifty ones on. I think it's a great idea - and like you said - if they suck then you haven't lost much.

fishdr, I appreciate you posting this whole "sunglasses quest" since I'm in a similar position. :)

No problem! I'm glad someone else can benefit from my compulsive researching. I think "quest" is a perfect term. They arrive Tuesday - I'll let you know what I think!

Years ago I used safety glasses. They work but to me riding glasses are a little more comfortable.

HA! Dianyla! Great signature line! :D :D :D

fishdr--hope the new shades work out. I ended up being pretty strict with myself last summer. I made a "rule" that I only wore my expensive shades when on the bike. I broke a couple of pair by wearing them around town, throwing them in my purse, etc. That's what the cheap ones are for!

My husband and i work at the colorado state fair every year . There is a vendor there that sells wrap around sun glasses. I buy my bike glasses for around 10-15 $. And a good thing too. I keep my glasses by my bike stuff in the garage (like most I am sure). Last halloween someone was using spary paint and sprayed my glasses. Then there has been the couple times bee's flew inside my lens, so of coarse I whipped my glasses off my face on to the ground (few scratches there) so me owning an expensive pair is not good. But I am telling you the one's I got from the fair are really nice. They look like I spent a lot. and they keep my eye's from watering too much.
So if these don't work out and you don't want to spend the big $ go to your local county fair and search out the eye glass vendor. They are at every fair.

I love my Zeal sunglasses! Don't worry about destroying them riding. I crashed on a gravel travel trail, went over the handlebars, the glasses flew off and I remember seeing them hit the ground before I did. I thought they were goners but they faired a lot better in the crash than I did. I don't think there was a scratch on them.

I also have a small face and they've been the best ones I've had for keeping dust, bugs etc. out of my eyes. I also have their ski goggles with the transition lens and it is wonderful for skiing no matter what the conditions, cloudy, sunny or whatever.

Brandi - that's a good thing to keep in mind, but I'm super hopeful these are going to work.

Kathi - your previous posts on Zeal played a big role in my choice. You seemed so happy with them. I also like that they are designed for women. Even Rudy Project doesn't do that. They design for small faces, but their "girl" line have the same dimensions as the regular line, just different colors. I can't wait until Tuesday. All I dreampt about last night was sunglasses - maybe it was all those cadbury eggs I ate (Thanks, Brandi).

I'm not riding again until they arrive - the totally dry contacts from the last outing with the Walmart glasses was enough to keep me in until the new ones arrive. Of course - the wind is blowing here at something like 30 mph right now, and I'd have to pull the kids in the trailer (not), so riding would not be fun anyway. Ah - Tuesday!

I'm glad to see you ordered your Zeals...I hope the Zink's work for you. I tried both the Rush and Zooni (this is what X-terra champion Jamie Whitmore wears). I went with the Rush and sent back the Zooni. They fit pretty well, but could stand to be a smidge smaller on my face (though, they are the best glasses that I found so far). Zeal Optics customer service is nothing less than stellar. I have no complaints thus far.

When I called to place the order - the customer service rep was fantastic. I called twice and she remembered me -- I'm not sure if that's good or bad ;)

They have a knew cool color - cool pool blue - it's only in the 2006 catalog, not on the regular website. I wear more pink than blue, so I stuck with the pink, but I was sure tempted with the blue.

They arrived today - very fast service! However - hrrumph - my eyelashes hit the lenses! Customer service has been awesome - they're sending a new pair (2 types) so I can try them all on and then return the ones I don't like. Ugh! I'm never going to get on the bike!

I need to move to somewhere that has stores!

You must have bee-yoo-tee-ful eyelashes!
