Running Mommy

I just HAVE to brag on my cousin...
She ran in a law enforcement relay early (4:30 am) Sunday morning. It was the Baker to Vegas relay.
Now her and I are alot alike. Well, she weighs CONSIDERABLY less than me... But our legs are about the same squatness. And thus, we are SLoooooWW runners. She has been training for this relay as an alternate, and just found out that she was going to be running a leg a couple of weeks ago. She had been running 4.5 milers, prolly averaging around 10:30 min miles. Her team had actually pegged her time for her 6.8 mile leg as being around 1:15. She thought she could do a 1:10.
Over the last week I've been trying to give her the little bit of knowledge I have about how to run faster. Also I gave her some mental techniques that I've learned in my distance training.
So I sent her a bracelet that said " I can do this" (Nanci knows of this bracelet) and my best wishes... I knew that if she put her mind to it she could run sub 10's. If *I* can run sub 10's- SHE can!
Well, she DID it! She ran her leg in 1:05!! I am so immensly proud of her! She dug deep, and she DID IT!!
And running in the middle of the night now less?! After being in a cramped van for hours..
I know she lurks here... She likes to find out what her cousin has been up to :p ... So I HAD to give her the props she so very much deserves!!!
Oh and she's also a VERY hard working single mom to a GREAT little man!!
