Gel Glove Recs Wanted

Hi,

I posted this down in apparel, too, but need to make a decision this morning. Does anyone have gel gloves that they love? I am most concerned about nice thick padding over the pisiform- wrist bone on the outside of the hand- you can feel it.

I've read reviews that say the PI Gels fall apart and the gel isn't in the right places, so I'm looking for alternates.

I have very small hands, even for 5'1" they are dinky. PI Gel Lite used to be the only glove I could find in XS, everything else bunched up between the fingers and hurt. I tried Specialized Blob and they did just that, the gel "blobbed".

I like the PI's a lot, wore 'em through 2 ALC's and all associated training. If they fall appart for others woah, lots of folks ride way more :p

Unfortunately, like all products we find, I can't find them in XS anymore :( Guess I should have bought a case of them.

So I'm wearing Fox gel gloves right now. Fit, durability, comfort...all good.

I have small hands too, but I found that the PI gloves didn't work for me. The gel seemed to be in the wrong places. I also prefer full finger gloves and found that the Specialized are the only ones that really work for me. I'm sorry, I don't know the name of the style, but they are black with turquoise trim. They also last forever.

I had to decide, so I called TE, and the woman who helped me got out five pairs of gloves, and felt up the gel in them all, then we narrowed it down to the PI Gel Vent Pro that she thought were really cool and the best, and tied for second place were Fox Reflex Gel and Loius Garneau XW Gel, which she thought the gel felt better in the Fox, and might be placed better but the LG's were of better construction.

So I didn't really decide, but will see those three in person and then decide!

I really liked the Specialized ones from two years ago. They were the only ones I found that kept my hands from going numb and I never had a problem with the gel. Then they changed them in 2005 and they are just not the same. I hate the little ribs on the palms. I also have a pair of LG and they are okay.

You can still find them in close-out bins and on eBay for a very reasonable price. I like them too, but I don't know if they have gel in them. I don't really like gel, to tell you the truth. I thought gel saddles and gel shorts would be great, but they didn't work for me at all.

I like these Specialized gloves and Pearl Izumi Pittard Carbon gloves. The PI Pittards have great padding in just the right places (NOT like the Gel Lites, which have padding everywhere but where you need it). They have them at Performance, if you want to check them out. They have real leather palms.

I like the sp's too same year as well. Mine have eld up through many washings as well. But after two and alf years I think it is time to get some new one's. Nanci, let us know how it works out for you with your new gloves. I changed my grips to sp's grips they are really nice.

I thought the PI Gel Lite's would be OK...until today....I push into the hoods so much that i felt EVERY bit of stitching that is in the thumb joint area. Does anyone know of any that are smooth on the inside right there?

I have tried many gloves and so far the only one that works for me is the PI Pittards Carbon Glove (http://www.teamestrogen.com/products.asp?pID=12604). They do appear a little bulky compared to gloves that look like they have their gel strategically placed. But once you have them on and riding they're a dream.

I have these too! I really like them. They are bulky, but they have padding in the right place and absorb road vibrations pretty well. I've read on Roadbikereview that they fall apart quickly, but that has not been a problem with mine yet.
