Melinda, you are so beautiful! And no, youse guys don't look "your age"! :p

Is your new bike better than the cruiser in terms of gears and your knees? It sure is a purty color!

The pictures must have been taken on Sat, since that was our "sunny day". Today wasn't bad either, though I opted to ski instead of bike. :D Storm coming in now but maybe this weekend it'll be good enough for a little ride? (If I don't decide to run off to the desert for the weekend, which is a possibility!)

Melinda, Congratulations on your new bike. You have every reason to be excited. You and your husband look like such a lovely couple.

Best of luck not only with your new bike, but also on your new road to getting healthy. Be sure to update us with how you are doing and your bike adventures.

Melinda,

Believe it or not, I think you are an inspiration. My mom is exactly your age, knee problems and weight problems for 30 years. I'm so excited for you, I sent the link to her and hope it inspires her to get back on a bike. :D

I flew my old mountain bike down to her in Mississippi five years ago, but she probably only rode it once. I know she's afraid to crash, but look at you! That fit looks great! I tried to talk her into an Electra Townie because the cranks are out front and she can be flat-footed, but you're right, cruisers are HEAVY.

Thanks for the inspiration, and have a FANTASTIC time on your bike! I cycle by myself mostly, but it is great to ride with someone else at least once a week. Good luck!!!!!

Hey Yellow and Cyclesutra and all the rest of you WONDERFULLY SUPPORTIVE GALS ON WHEELS!!

I hope I inspire ME to keep on going--if I inspire anybody else as old and plump as me, well TERRIFIC!!!:D :D

Boy,...... is pain a PAIN!!! My fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis are killing me with this winter storm coming in and over the weekend also! But I know for a FACT that exercise always made me feel better, stronger....(once I quit hurting!) I have the bruises to prove it!! My legs are technicolor from all the bumps and banging getting me in that saddle and then down the road around our RV park! But nothing, absolutely NOTHING IS GOING TO KEEP ME DOWN!!!:D

I think you guys look great, and your attitude of "I will be healthy" is wonderful. I understand. Plus, you encourage me that you found your hubby on line! And a fine looking one he is! I was smiling that you just won't step through the bike, but need to swing your leg over. I almost knocked over a whole row of bikes swinging my leg over one that I was test-riding the other day! :o Keep posting, and we'll keep cheering! Lise

Hey Lise, I got in the habit of "swinging" my leg over the saddle from learning how to mount my hubby's new Nighthawk motorcycle.... (at first I had to lie down on my face on the gas tank while he pushed my leg over the seat.... ) :o finally I got strong enough to not only throw my leg over it but also MISS the backrest he installed which was in my way to mounting it.

(Picture a fat gal in leathers behind a big guy on a big bike who is wearing a big 'I'm scared sh_less being on this thing at MY age!" look on her face.....) That would be ME!:D

Now I find I can't step through the new bicycle, but can put my leg over the seat...maybe I will actually retrain my brain and leg to just step through the darn thing!!!:D

Yep, I found that handsome widower (of a 32 year marriage to his highschool sweetheart) on a singles LDS website and he came out to meet me after we were writing and phoning back and forth for about two months, and the phone call came about six weeks later asking me to marry him which was a TOTAL SHOCK TO ME!! I thought he was nuts, but I sure wasn't going to say NO to that hunk!!!

We've had a very unusual and adventurous marriage these last five years and he rides bikes too, farther than I do actually -- he's in such good shape physically compared to me. The Internet is the new way to meet your man for sure!!! I have so many friends who successfully met their hubbies there!:D :p
