Friday afternoon around 4:30 there was a shooting on my street, pretty much right in front of my house. Two people were shot, one died. The authorities think it was drug related.

We were on our way to Solvang at the time.

Oh, my goodness. I am sorry to hear that. Glad you were nowhere near. Lise

hopefully this was just an isolated incident. It's very discomforting (to say the least) when things happen in your nice quiet neighborhood.

Hope you don't stress too much about it. I'm sure the police will be doing extra patrols in that area for a little while.

Yikes!

Glad all is OK with you though.

What neighborhood do you live in? (I used to live in SF...moving back soon!)

I think I can go one worse- that multiple shooting up here in Seattle - about 3 blocks from my house. My husband and I walked right by the Friday night concert that the party was after - all the kids dressed up in their best zombie outfits hanging out on the sidewalk. Creepy creepy creepy - even creepier - the shooter has a twin brother...

Oh geez. Puts the night we were on vacation and awakened by the security company because our house had been broken into. Not being there probably helped lessen the queasy feeling I would have had for a long time.

Scary! When I was in law school there was a stabbing outside my apartment. I know that can be really unsettling. I am sure this incident was just a fluke thing - it could happen anywhere. Don't let it trouble you too much.

Add me to the list. I work in the building that that 50cent or whatever that singer guy is called was shot in Manhattan. Of course the two craziest radion stations are in this building. It doesn't matter where you are today, there could be a crazy person anywhere.

Thanks - I know it's unlikely to happen again. But it's good to hear it. :) Helps silence that little voice.

V- I'm sorry as well. And as people have said, it can happen anywhere. I'm glad you weren't there. (I witnessed an armed bank robbery and it took a very long time to get over the trauma).

Scary!! When I was still living with my mom, the neighbor across the street had a small bomb set off under their house. Not enough to cause a lot of external damage but it made a heck of a lot of noise and scared the c$@p out of the neighborhood. Because it was so targeted it didn't bother me much. I'm glad you weren't there, and also that it happened after you'd left for Solvang--that could have been a horrible distraction for you.

V, are you ok? And to feel freaked out is entirely normal and right to feel that way. It's good to share and lessen the load.

Take care,

eva
