WA-HOO! Ducklings! :D

Up here, I've seen a few robins, the crocus are up and the tulips are pushing out leaves, and on a sunny morning last week, it smelled like spring. Also, I saw ***** willows. Can the forsythia be far behind? I ask you. :p

No ducklings here yet, but the Canada Geese are back. I don't remember when I usually see baby ducks and geese, but I want to say it's still a ways off.

I'm ready for warmth! Today was better than yesterday with temps in the high 40s, and the little rain that fell on my ride stopped quickly enough so that my bike was still clean! I had to head back out with my camera to capture some of the crocus that caught my eye as I was riding, beautiful, striped purple and white. Luckily they were just around the corner from home (otherwise I probably wouldn't have the pictures...)

I saw a lost Canada goose yesterday. I said to him, "What's a Canada Goose doing way down here?" and he immediately started honking. He was flying north. I don't know if he lives down here or what. I miss, kind of, having a big cornfield next door, and the geese out grazing every evening. Not enough to move North, though :-)

We had a live "bird porn" show going on out on the fence here this morning. Too slow with the camera to get it on film. Later observed the happy couple ferrying straws to their nest.

Yup, our local car wash has a duck pond. On the news today they showed the new ducklings, so cute!

Oh, this reminds me of some really sad roadkill that I saw while riding last spring. Seeing grown animals doesn't bother me as much, but the duckling next to the mama duck just about broke my heart. :(

I was sitting here trying to find a good way to say the same thing. Everywhere I looked on Saturday morning, while eating breakfast with my family, there was bird porn. It's great when my 4 yr old says "what are they doing, mom?". Uhhhhh - hey, look at the bluejays mobbing the squirrel. Yeah yeah distraction - that'll work...

The bradford pears are leafing out, grape hyacinths have finished blooming and the caroline jessamine (jasmine) is in full glorious bloom. And - the starlings are doing their best to clog my gutters with a nest. Yup - it's spring. ;)

Spotted this afternoon in Salt Lake City! I had to do a double take as I haven't even seen any daffodils yet!

Check this out, you'll gain a new respect for starlings!

BTW, the stoopid 28F weather froze all the leaves on my crape myrtles, and the flowers off my azaleas...

My first sign of spring here in beautiful Kentucky has been hearing the spring peepers singing in the ponds - I love to listen to frogs calling to one another.

The best sign of spring in Spokane? The city and county are starting to sweep the roads! Ya hoo!:D I was very excited to find one of my main routes sweep clean on my early morning ride today. I was even more relieved on the way home. Ten miles into my ride it started rainning hard enough to turn around when you realize you have ten miles to ride to get back home. Between the rain and condensation on my glasses, my vision was "poor" to say the least. I would have had quite the time dodging road debris and traffic going 60 mph.

All I can say is it's a good thing I just got a repair stand for my bike. After riding through two construction zones, my road bike and I have never been so filthy dirty! I've had my shower, my clothes are in the washer so now I'm off to clean my bike! BikerHen

this is the first spring in our new house and everyday we go outside and peruse the yard finding new green things popping up everywhere!!! my dh planted grass seeds a few weeks back and the little suckers are springin' up blades of tiny little baby grass:D

we are also finding out what kind of critters roam about in our 'hood...we are in a woodsy neighborhood near a big forest type plot of land...this is gonna be a FUN spring of new adventures...especially for hubby since he has basically lived in the city all his life!!! it is so fun watching him discover new things - kinda gives me an idea of what he was like as a kid exploring the world around him!:p

I've been rather enjoying the part where all of a sudden it's 10degC warmer. :)

Spring weather hasn't arrived in Northern California, but the redwing blakbirds and their lilting whistles have. I think they were kind-of wondering where the sun shine is too.
