My daughter got her braces off today - after 2 years! If I can ever figure out how to post a photo on this site, I will. She was SO excited. They sang to her at the orthodontist's and gave her a bottle of sparkling cider with a big bow!
Just in time for her 10th birthday next week!! :) :) :)
Just had to share.

Oooh, I remember that day very well when I got mine off after THREE LONG years. I just couldn't stop running my tongue over my teeth - they were so smooooooth. :)

Congrats to your daughter! I remember the day well, too - after 2 1/2 years (7th-10th grade). It felt soooooooo good to have smooth teeth. Why does it seem like kids are getting braces much younger these days?

I wore my braces from age 17 until I was 23. I got married in them - Big ole silver mouth smiles in all my wedding pictures!!! It felt so good not to have to deal with rubber bands, and eating (food trapped) and the embarassment of braces. Kids nowadays do have it alittle better what with the types of braces they have now, but still it's tough to deal with. Congrats to her. Make her a dinner of corn on the cob, ribs and all those other things that were hard to eat before and let her chew gum after. Chewing gum... aaahhhhhh I loved being able to do that again!!!!;)
What a great feeling that is. I was always knocking off my clear plastic braces by chewing on pens while doing homework. I got mine junior year in HS, I think, got them off the spring before graduation. Nothing like those first few days of smooth teeth! :D Yay for your daughter, and how sweet of them to have a party at the orthodontists'!

I got mine off a couple of months ago.
Just the bottoms, and I only had them for ~14 months, but still.
I missed my PayDays :D

Tell her I said CONGRATS!
That's interesting though that she's only 10 and is already getting them off. My son will be nine on Monday and the dentist said we are still a few years away from the braces discussion... hmmm...
But yeah, I bet she's STOKED! Cool on her!!

Her teeth literally overlapped in front on top, so she needed the early intervention. She may need a second round of braces when more of her permanent teeth come in. But all of the front permanents are straight now! There are like 2 rounds of braces now for kids, so your son probably falls into the luckier category of being able to wait til he's got more of his permanent teeth in.

Fab that she has them off... like Running Mommy child, my son was much older before he even got them on - all his baby teeth had to be gone before he could have braces.
Nearly two years later and he was free of them - a year and a bit later, he still wears the retainer at night, but he remembers that himself... he's 17 this August.
I think it must be a wonderful feeling to be rid of them - I know its a great feeling to not have to be taking him for all those check-ups...
