I was looking at who is registered so far for the first two stage races for the Triple Crown. There is only one other woman registered. Geez... if I can make the cut off for Terrible Two, I could come in second. :D Of course there is still lots of time, and other people could register.
I'm thinking about signing up for the following centuries/doubles
*3/25 Solvang Double
*4/29 Devil Mountain Double
5/6 Wine Country
*5/13 Central Coast double
5/21 Strawberry Fields
*6/1 LRRH
*6/17 Terrible Two
7/15 Fall River
7/22 Windmill
8/6 Mount Shasta
8/19 Holstein Hundred
8/26 That Which Doesn't Kill You...
* are the ones I've already decided for sure on.
Any one else interested in any of these?

I'm doing the Windmill on 7/22. I have done (many years ago) the Strawberry Fields ride - beautiful ride, you should definately do it if you can - great apple pie at the lunch stop! Susie from TE is doing the Strawberry Fields 100 miler.
My list is much smaller but DH is whining so... I'd love to do the Holstein 100 again - I did it once and the hills 'beat' me (I distinctly remember one really long one coming back near the end where I just wanted to die!) I'd really like to go back and prove I can do it!
You're an ANIMAL V!

I'm thinking, I'm thinking. Holstein is definitely on the list. Maybe the Wine Country.
The rest, who knows. TrekHawk and I are just going to plan rides without you.:p There's no room for mountain biking in there.

Crud, I didn't realize the Wine Country has a double metric with a reasonable amount of climbing. I don't think I can get in shape enough for it.
I've just spent about 10 days off the bike and feel like the aforementioned crud. I need warm, sunny weather! Those East Coast girls have obviously stolen ours.

Funny, that's what Thom said too.
I'm hoping to maintain my fitness level so I can do Knoxville in September. I think I can mountain bike on the weekend day I'm not road riding. Slower than cold molasses running uphill in winter time maybe.

I'm still thinking I'd like to do a "double" with the Holstein and Tour of Napa Valley on the same weekend.
Strawberry Fields is a possibility.
Right now, I'm registered for Party Pardee, Primavera, Grizzly Peak and LRRH. I was thinking about doing Tierra Bella, but I see registration is now closed :(.

Sorry, but someone took it away from us too. Are you sure it wasn't you west coast gals?
Last weekend gave us a wonderful taste of spring (actually Friday was more like early summer with a temperature of 68 when I headed out on my bike!), and I managed 3 days of riding, yahoo! But now it's back to the 40s today with a wind advisory, and predictions of 30s for the weekend. Guess I'll have to pull out those wonderful toe warmers again...

Hey V-
looks like you have some time in between 6/17 and 7/15 for a little european excursion.......
That is probably an ideal timeframe for me as I will need to start work mid to late July at the latest. And I'm looking forward to some R&R at home between graduation and LRRH before heading off for my vacation....

Veronica, we overlap on some of our rides, but not a ton. These are all definites for me as I have registered and/or told DH I am doing them (so he's on kid patrol):
3/25 Solvang double century
4/29 DMD (as I have said over and over "I am starting this ride...")
5/6 Wine country double metric (with DH)
5/20 Davis double century (with DH)
6/3 Eastern Sierra double century
6/17 - 18 Death ride altitude camp (with DH)
7/8 Death Ride (with DH)
8/5 Mt. Tam Double (same day as Marin century). After swearing I wouldn't do this ride again! :p I want vengeance on it!! I finished (before dark, too), but I want to do it again and feel better doing it this year!
9/16 Knoxville double century
10/7 - 9 Furnace creek 508 (2 woman team.)
11/20 El Tour de Tucson (probably. I usually race this every year and last year I coached it instead and crashed out and got my first ever in my life DNF. So I have a little chip on my shoulder about this race!! ) 'Course I may be tired by then and need a break. We'll see how the 508 goes, I guess.
I will miss Holstein becuase we're camping in Yosemite. I loved Holstein last year. It is a great ride, and I encourage you all to do it! They've got a lot of mileage options.
I can't do those other stage race doubles because of commitments I have made for coaching Death Ride. Plus I am not yet crazy enough to want to do the TT! :p My friend Karen did the stage race last year (she's probably doing it again this year), and she had a blast! I think that's a great challenge. Maybe next year. I think I have enough on my plate right now!! :D

Here's my little list including trips because it all has to be timed to get me in shape for Wine Country Double Metric. I think I can do it because 7 days of mtbiking should get my legs strong then I'll go sit on my posterior for 100 flat miles at Bike Around the Buttes. Legs and butt - that's what I call cross training.:p
*4/1 Party Pardee - 65 miles, 4,500' climb
*Mid-April - 7 days of mtbiking in UT
4/22 Bike Around The Buttes - 100, 350' climb
*5/6 Wine Country - 125, 7,000+' climb
*Memorial Day Wkend - 5 days of mtbiking Oregon
*6/3 Little Red Riding Hood -100, almost flat
*8/19 Holstein Hundred - 100 or 65, 5,500' climb
8/20 Tour of Napa Valley - 65, 3,000' climb
9/9? Sisikiyou Century - 100, 4,600' climb
Kim, I'm pondering Napa. If I commit I'll only do a metric for both the Holstein and Napa. I really want to do the Siskiyou again. I really liked it, but then I like being in the middle of nowhere.
* For me = committed or already registered.
WrenchBoy has to decide what he wants to do. He left his double days behind years ago so training and riding beyond 65 miles means its without my best buddy and I'm definitely a social rider for anything centuries. That's why I added BOB.

4/29 DMD (as I have said over and over "I am starting this ride...")And finishing too :p. I'll put a bug in the SAG driver's ear not to SAG you in without good cause (allthough they might accept bribes...).
SK - the only way I'll ever be able to do a double of any distance is on back-to-back days. Maybe the Holstein course lends itself to bail outs and other adjustments so we can see all the good parts in less than 100 miles?
I'd like to try Siskiyou again too (healthy this time).

Kim - if I can do a double, you can. You already registered for the Grizzly? We can go suffer through the Wine Country together.
Glad to hear about the Siskiyou. I'd like to ride the "summit" of Shasta but that ride only has the summit in the longest version. I think. I have to go check, but I'm almost positive you can't ride it on the shorter routes.

Kim - if I can do a double, you can.Hmm, what would logicians call this fallacy?
I am registered for Grizzly, and plan to do the first loop only (I'll be thinking of CindySue slogging away while I enjoy my lunch :)). I haven't been riding at all the past few weeks (longest time ever off the bike??), and can't imagine doing Grizzly and Wine Country together by early May. In fact, doing the 100k at Party Pardee on 4/1 is sounding hard.

Thanks, Kim. My friend Fred is also SAG-ging for DMD. Between all you guys, I'll be banned from the cars, I think! :p
This Siskiyou sounds beautiful. Hmmm.. Like I need another ride.

My in-laws arrive on 6/17 and are staying until 6/22. Thom's big project at work is up in the air still - we're hoping we can take some time and go back to Zion around the July 4th. Yeah - it will be crowded, but what can you do. I REALLY want to hike more of the Narrows. We won't know until the end of the month what's going on for him.
Why does work always have to get in the way?

Thanks! I will go read those. It sounds great. I fear I have enough rides that involve some amount of travelling already in my agenda to get another one past the family. Is there a metric version??? I would love to throw in a metric this year - later in summer/fall would be good - to do with DD on the tandem. We will miss Cinderella this year and I feel badly about that. We did it together 2 years ago and she did great for an 8 year old, but we have not been able to do it again.
I need to find a nice, relatively flat metric. Suggestions?

Read V's report on the metric. I don't think there was a hill in it.
Great ride to do with kids because you don't have to worry about the traffic.

Hmm. Flat metric.... I am tempted. I think it's the week before Knoxville, so it would be a good time. Problem is, we leave immediately after Knoxville for Hawaii for a week, so things will be hectic. (DH is coaching the Honolulu century for TNT - can you say BOONDOGGLE??? I am going along for fun and not bringing my bike as it is right between K'ville and the 508).
So anyway, I will see how the summer goes in terms of work, etc., and Em and I may well join you guys in the boonies at Siskiyou. I think it would have the elements of Cindy that she liked because of all you guys beging there!
And right now flat metric is our speed, because she is quite literally dead weight on the bike. It's great strnegth training, though! :D

Roughly when is Siskiyou? Will it be about the same date as last year (Sep 10)?

To go with the flatware I've used for 35 years, and the glassware for 20 years, and .... Oh, back to topic, Siskiyou, Mt. Shasta Resort, new fly swatter - all doable.

Maybe Blaine and I can actually do the Siskiyou this year. We really have to plan these things in advance. It's just a bummer that ti's in the fall because Blaine's parents want to come back out and we could leave the kids with them, but that's during harvest so they can't get away.
I may have to see if my mom can get some time off work.
