I have been thinking about getting a full suspension bike after riding my Fisher Big Sur GS for the past two years. I have really short legs, so have been reading lots of reviews and some of the threads here about smaller mtbs. Sounded like the Titus Racer X or Motolite might be the one. But no dealers around here carry them, particularly in XS. And they are so $$$!

Well, one came up on Ebay...I fretted and dreamed and got really nervous...bid...and won it! It's a Racer X, very lightly used, and it should be arriving on Wednesday.

I have never bought anything by bid on Ebay. I have never ridden or even seen this bike! I checked out the geometry and it seemed like it should fit, I have never read a bad review, and it was my birthday last week! Soooo...am I crazy or what? Hopefully the trails will be dry enough to ride next weekend and hopefully I will love it. I'll let you know!

Well, you know, if you don't like it, you can always sell it in ebay. ;)

No, you're not crazy, you made a reasoned decision to buy a bike. If it had not been in your ballpark, you would have sighed heavily and moved on. Right? So you're good.

I bet you're going to enjoy it, too.

Soooo...am I crazy or what?

No way! I reckon you got what you wanted at price you could afford... That's fantastic!

I'm a big time Ebayer (174 100% feedback), and sure you get the odd misfire, but generally speaking I've been very happy with things I've purchased off Ebay. If you've seen the bike as in model in the stores etc, and you know that this is what you want, and the photos really show you what you're getting, then it should be ok.

And Momonbike is right, you can always sell it on Ebay!

My husband bought his bike on ebay. He has the opposite problem, he is very tall, and we could not find a mountain bike to fit him. He got a great bike, at a great price. It is all good. Now we buy everything on ebay.

Congrats and enjoy.

I bought my bike (road) on eBay and I love her and everything about her is perfect and I got a great deal.

I have a Titus Locomoto. It's a great bike, and a great company. They recalled my frame because someone's frame cracked, and they changed the style completely, so now my bike is way different than the one I bought, but I still love it. So when I had to send it back, they paid shipping both ways and everything. I bought it on line from Speedgoat, a custom builder. I'd test-ridden one in Georgia. I test rode everything...

So, I think you will be really happy with your Titus, and it's always cool to have a sort of obscure bike.

Congrats!! You'll love the ride. If the fit doesn't feel perfect, just try tweaking it some with components. Good luck!

I was having the same problem finding a bike that fit me. Cause I am short as well. My husband bought my giant xtc frame on ebay from a guy named Egon ( molds spores and fungas for movie buffs). He had bought it for he's wife hoping she would want to ride but it didn't happen. So we got it. And it was sooooo much cheaper then buying it retail. I was nervous it wasn't going to fit. But it is perfect for me! And my dh did such a good job with it. I bet if you did your research it will be perfect for you. And like momonbike said you can always resell it on ebay! No big!

Welcome to the Racer X club! :D :D :D I got mine after drooling all over SadieKate's. I was riding a hard tail before (a heavy one at that). It's a fun and easy bike to ride. And with the XS (which both SadieKate and I have) you can really keep the weight of the bike down. I have disc brakes so mine's slightly heavier (than SK's) at 24-point-something pounds.

Make sure you post a picture when you can!

Hey there wavedancer... have faith
Sure it will be great... about half of our bikes are bought from "trademe" - the NZ equivalent of ebay... and they have been fabulous

In fact half of my road bikes are new and half are pre-loved... lol :) I only have two (see pic of my brand new baby - as yet un-named - in another thread)

And Wednesday - thats my Thursday, yes? And its Thursday evening here, which must make it Wednesday morningthere... arrival is immminent methinks... so exciting. Let us know how it goes... :D

I don't know what your criteria were for picking the Racer X, but I am absolutely thrilled with mine. She climbs like crazy. Point her uphill and hang on or you'll get left behind (especially if yellow is in front).:( :D

Thanks for all the support:) :) :)

She arrived yesterday morning...still in pieces...but shiny and silver and I can't wait for my sweet BF to help me put her together this weekend...and then hit the trails!

Hi-yo Silver....Awaaaaay:D :D :D

So we got her together, did some tweaking, and she is soooo sweeeet! I went out on some trails that I hadn't ridden in a while, and it's true...climbing was much easier. I was able to do some climbs in my middle gear, that I was using my granny gear for on my Fisher. The ride is so smooth, cornering and riding around obstacles is very responsive, so much fun :D :D :D I'm still walking some stuff, but I know I will get better, mostly it's a matter of learning timing of when to shift down. So here's a Pic of me and Quicksilver in the back yard doing the Grand dog-poo Slalom:

Wow! She's beautiful! And dog-poo not withstanding, the back yard looks pretty fabulous, too. So glad to hear your ebay adventure panned out. Love the heck out of your new bike. :D Lise
