With a caring acknowledgement of all the positive and for some the negative or painful aspects of Mother’s Day, an acknowledgement of every path in life with support and empathy rather than judgment and with a wonderful caring, inclusive and diverse definition of what it means to be a woman, daughter, mother......((HUG))’s to all here

and with a deep love for my mother.....

Thinking I want to post this on a site that I’ve enjoyed sharing these kinds of feelings on…so I waited until today, mother’s day, to do it………..I’m so beyond grateful that Alex is bringing a new life into this world. I luv being able to focus on her with the same support, attention, caring and learning that she focused on my health last year. I feel sooooooooooooooo BLESSED to be able to have the bonding experience of her pregnancy and to raise a child with such a wonderful partner in life!!!!!!!!!!!

I am grateful……….to be able to have this new journey with all it entails.

When you touch a life,
strive to leave it the better
for the change you make

Couldn't agree, more. Now that we're so far from all the kids and retired, have to say, there are times when I miss having little ones around, almost to the point of tears. Breaks my heart that we're so far away from the grandkids.

rebecca, that was touching. Thanks for sharing that. I understand.

That's wonderful, rebecca -- you are indeed blessed!

I always get a little sad around M's Day, as we tried for years to have a child but were never successful. By the time we gave up, we were too old to go through the same roller coaster with adoption. I see all the families around on M's Day (Facebook is the worst!) and feel lonely. But I am lucky enough to still have a wonderful 83-year old mother, who is really my best friend (other than DH), and not everyone is so fortunate. I Skyped with her over the weekend and will see her next month when we visit NC. Looking forward to that!

It's good to acknowledge the sadness, Emily. You are right, you are lucky to still have your mom. My mom died way too young, in a family where everyone lives until their 90s. I wish she could have seen my kids become adults and meet their wives, especially when my younger son was living in San Diego. I think it would have changed a lot of things. I know she wouldn't want me to be sad, though. I do get a little sad about the daughter I lost at 8 months pregnant, because I see how my kids turned out. My granddaughter here looks just like her, and it makes me smile.
