Congratulations! It is a great feeling to set your sights on something that at times seems impossible and then to kick it square in the butt! Keep riding and be safe.

Thanks for the encouragement, ladies!
The next ride (charity ride for Children's Cancer Research) has varied distances from 25-100...I'm not sure I'm ready for a century yet (in fact, I KNOW I'm not), but I'm hoping to get up to 50 soon. This next ride I'll stick to 25 until I can finish with no trouble, then bump it up.
I'll keep you posted!

Congratulations! I bet, if there's a 37 mile option at the next ride, you could do that by then. You have lots of time to train! I did a jump from 100 to 124, (the 100 being a Century in November, but then rides of 60-80 miles on Saturdays in between, till the 124 in January) which I thought would be pretty easy, but it was HARD (but maybe it was the wind) so I was really nervous about going from 124 to 192, (three weeks later) but at the lunch stop on the 192, which fell about 120 miles, I still had tons of energy left. And at the end, I was much less tired/sore than the 124! I am still amazed. That's how the body works- you stress it a little, give it a nice rest, and it's ready to go further, easier! I also like to think of it in terms of hours, rather than miles. It seems much less intimidating to me for some reason.

Kate, congrats on making the 25! :) It's always rewarding being able to say "I did that!" :)
If you haven't done so yet, drop by the "Getting to know you" thread in Open Topics and say hi :)

Ooh I'm not sure I want to - it might scare me off!!! As we were driving back to the starting point from the end of the 25, I found myself looking around going, "I passed THAT?" LOL
I do appreciate the kind words, ladies. This is such a cool site!!

Next thing you know, you'll be using the gmaps pedometer to draw even longer routes.

I've been mapping the suburbs around my town to create large loops for long non-repeating mileage on the way to work and the way home.
