Hey admins ... Ads

Hey Jeff, Susan, whoever,
Tried to send this as a PM to admin but it wouldn't let me attach a photo, and I think you might want to see this.

I know you don't have much/any control over the ads that appear to forum visitors, but this is the second time I've seen this one while browsing without logging in. It's pretty offensive to me, and might well discourage a non-member visitor from ever joining or shopping at TE. FTR I have never looked at porn from this device, never identified myself as male from this device, never sync my browsers across devices, so I doubt it's a targeted ad ... :cool:

Just letting you know what your ad company is letting through. Feel free to delete this thread after reading.

I do not get ads in the forum at all. I assume AdBlockPlus is the reason? Whatever it is, I am happy. :D

Trek, good tip on reporting spam posts, but this was an embedded ad served by TE's adserver. They got some fraction of a cent by feeding it to me.

Once you log in you don't get ads, and on my laptop I have a lot more security measures enabled (I feel guilty about using an adblocker, but I use it just to keep out the moving popups that make you wait an age so as not to accidentally click on them, and as far as scriptblockers, I don't feel guilty about that :cool:), but lately I've been browsing more on my tablet, which has so few security options that mainly I use private browsing, which means logging in and out every session, which means that I don't necessarily login to TE unless I want to post a comment. So that's when I see the ads that are served to forum guests.

It's been awhile since I logged in to the Google AdSense system -- I had previously blocked any sex-related ads, but that offensive ad got through under the "video game" category, I think.

So, I've now blocked a whole slew of new categories including:

Black Magic
Astrology
Politics
Drugs
Ringtones
Video Games
Cosmetics and Body Modifications

It's funny that there would be enough "Black Magic" ads to merit their own category :-)

Fascinating! :D I am always logged into the site, so I see now that is why I am not seeing ads.
