Wow, we went riding today. There was a young man riding a tricycle on the trail. He didn't have use of his legs. He "pedaled" the bike with his hands and arms. He legs rested in front of the seat on the frame of the tricycle. The "hand pedals" were above his legs around where his knees were. What a great deal of strength it must take do ride something like that. I am in awe!

I saw a few of these on the MS150 and when we drove through the Rockies during the "Ride the Rockies" ride. It is just so amazing!

There is a Para-Olympic champion who rides a hand cycle on many of the routes near my house. He routinely drops me.
Also saw lots of these on the Wounded Warrior Ride a few years ago.

lol.. I have a friend who is paralyzed who just got a hand cycle. I think he may have had one years ago, but it's been a long time. He's having a blast and even commuting to work with it (he has an attachment that allows him to carry his regular wheelchair). Even though it's still using arm strength it's different from just pushing a chair.
