I have always done the middle sister route, the 42-ish mile ride, but bringing a friend who doesn't cycle quite as far so we are doing the 25 miler this year.

And the jersey is really cute this year too.... ;)

Always seem to be out of town for that one. I did the Burly girl when it went up Tiger Mountain, (was in great shape that year...) and the middle sister the next year when weather was crappy, and never have been able to make it back.

A friend and I did the Middle Sister 45 mile (http://ridewithgps.com/routes/5965997) ride on Sunday. What a great ride and atmosphere! Cheerleaders and volunteers cheering everyone on at the start and finish, at the food stops, and even some intersections. There were even firefighters handing out Hot Tamales at the Tibbets Valley Park food stop. The extra climb up the Newcastle Loop was totally worth it for the rollers and long descents down Lake Washington Blvd SE. So much fun!

Wasn't that a great day? I enjoyed the route changes this year, especially the new section of the east Lake Sammamish trail , we were glad to get off the busy road at that point. The views of the lake and mountains were well worth the climbing on Newport.

I did the 30 mile route with a friend this year, usually do the middle sister, and she had a terrific time. We were overwhelmed by the cheering section and big band at the finish line, wow, that was amazing. Had fun shopping the vendors and enjoying the finish line food and free chocolate. Yum!

I've done Cycle the Wave every year since it started. They put on a great ride! I have to say I missed the Cedar Grove/Lake Francis Road part of the Middle Sister ride. I love that area. Otherwise, they did their usual stellar job. It is AMAZING how many volunteers they have--the Issaquah Reporter article said it's about 350, which I believe. And I love seeing all those cheer squads get to do their thing. And the moms and daughters!

Yes, it was so great seeing the younger girls riding with their moms. Did you see the 8-9-year-old riding her tiny orange road bike? She was so cute and so fast. My friend and I just barely kept up with her and her mom on East Lake Sammamish Pkwy.

I did see her! And at packet pickup, I overheard a mom asking how she could time things so that she could do Girly Girl and then come back and do the 10 miler with her daughter. And I saw plenty of tandems. At least one of those tandems had a blind stoker whom I've seen at triathlons. It's just a delight, this ride.
