so we go into a bike shop last week.. cuz we were in the area.. we're looking around... and hubby comes back to me "you are going to be SO pissed!" then he takes me over and points at a black ruby... and i say "oh.. it's the comp... how pretty!" (i wanted a black bike before deciding on the ruby pro... but of course.. the pro is ruby colored... but anyways)....

he says "no... look" while pointing at the stickers.... the black bike says "ruby pro".... i'm like "what the heck?" (ok.. i said the other word)... then i looked... nope.. it's 105 not dura-ace.... pick it up... it's heavy...

specialized screwed up! we asked one of the lbs folks about it and they said a whole batch came out with the wrong stickers!

the reason hubby though i was gonna be pissed... was cuz he saw "pro"... didn't look at the components... and thought i coulda had a black bike after all!

i also got to see the blue expert at my bike shop when mine went in for a tune up... that blue is PURDY! i like how on the black and blue one you see the distinct carbon weave... however i was told that that actually makes the bike heavier

i was surprised at the huge difference in weight between the pro and comp (didn't think to pick up the expert)

they are all gorgeous bikes though! i don't think anyone could go wrong with either of them!

I'm really surprised they let them go out like that.. I mean that is a HUGE boo boo!! I certainly hope the shop is not selling the bike as a "pro"...

wow, hard to believe they actually delivered them like that.

as for the weight, i guess it is all what you are used to. compared to my old hybrid the comp seems like a feather.

no... the store hang tags say "comp"

sounds like a "collector's item," like those stamps that they print wrong then sell!

i was thinking that, too! wonder why they didn't just recall them? guess specialized didn't want to pay to have them shipped back and reship them...

I think I'd go in and offer a low price because of the error!! Couldn't hurt to try. Might call specialized too, because someone in another post said they got $1000 off a Ruby for a blemish. Worth a try for someone in the area!!!

Hmmm, maybe I should call!!! Will they ship it to me? My hubby would freak if another bike showed up!

lol! that's a good idea! however... i already have a real ruby pro! the ruby colored one! i didn't think to look and see if they had the same price on both comps... the one that really says "comp" and the one that erroneously says "pro"...

if we get back down there and they are both there.. i'll check it out!

Hi,

I'm the one who got a blemished Ruby for $1K off. Unfortunately, Specialized won't sell direct to consumers, not even for a blemished bike. My LBS found it on a web site that Specialized has for their dealers with listings in the "blemish" warehouse. I don't know if all dealers have access to this web site -- the onwer of my shop used to work for Specialized, so he may have some special priveledges. Your best bet is ask a dealer about it.

Since it's a collector's item, shouldn't the bike shop charge more, not give you a break? ;) Guess it could work both ways, depending on your point of view.
