So I have a quick exam/blood draw scheduled for Thursday, and the nurse just told me to day to not do any hard exercising that morning as it would make my blood pressure go up. I was planning about a 30 mile ride in the morning. Is her concern valid, should I skip my ride? Normally my BP is on the low side anyway, and I'm not really wanting to cancel on my ride partner. Curious to see if any of you are aware of how much exercise would affect it... I'd be doing the exam about 2 hours after finishing the ride, if that makes a difference.

I think that after any type of exercise your blood chemistry is different and it does take a long time for your heart to re-establish a normal bp since it is busy recovering and flushing your body. You're paying money or copay for the test so why not do what they suggest
I would think that they know what they are doing.

Call the nurse back and ask if that's enough time! I think it would be unless you ride super hard. I've been taught that blood pressure correlates directly with heart rate, so if that's enough time for your HR to return to baseline it should be okay, but definitely ask.

What may impact the results is dehydration after your ride so make sure you drink enough water. I would not think a 30 mile ride would be bad...also I would think they would want to see what your BP does on a "normal" exercise day for you vs taking time off from exercise.
