I don't want to tempt to weather gods so I'm going to whisper. Do you think the Pioneer will be rideable on Sunday?
Talking about it but seems like when I do it rains.:(

Hey SadieKate - it looks like rain Monday just cloudy Sunday. I will nip up and give it a look over and get back to you a little later. There is still a bit of snow lying around so not sure how deep it will be that little bit higher up.
Stay tuned and I will have a report for you by late this afternoon.:)

Me? Patience? :D I assume from your response that you might be able to come out and play?
A bit of snow if fine, mud is not. Damp is OK, mud is not. I think you get the picture.
Mathilda and her pink wheels are getting all giggly!

How could I resist a ride with you. Hey I might even learn how to MTB without falling off all the time. See I have a secret agenda.:D
Will give you a mud rating before days end.

Hmm, we mtbikers need to develop a whole new vocabulary for mud. Is it the Inuit (or Athasbascan?) languages which have something like 200 words for snow?

SadieKate I checked the lower part of Pioneer and it doesnt look too bad but unfortunately the weather looks sad. Just did an undated check and they are saying rain and 20mph winds.
Perhaps we will have to wait a little longer to get the ride in. The parts of pioneer that look iffy will not be good if its raining thats for sure.
When its looking like a sunny weekend and the trail looks good I will let you know and we can hatch a riding plan.:D
Sorry Trekhawk

Sorry had a little sleep in this morning. I cant believe my bad luck. Now it looks like no rain until about 3pm. Thinking it was going to rain earlier I sent of DH to get some motorbike parts he needs and now have no babysitter.
Oh well maybe next time. Have fun and let me know how it all went when you get back.

TrekHawk, I am so disappointed but I know we sprung this on you late. We had a great ride but turned around after the big "down and up" on the flume section because the winds started howling and nearly knocked us over. After we got back over to the other side of the ridge, all was happy again and we flew back down to the market where we packed up just before the heavens opened. Perfect timing weather-wise, not so good TrekHawk-wise.
I love this trail and I think we could talk PrincessZippy (aka Veronica) into a field trip up there with some notice. We'll have to plan a date when the weather is more consistent.
There was snow in only a couple places, one of which I skiied through sideways for a couple feet. Whoohooooooo!!:D

Glad to hear you had a good ride, I was thinking of you when it started getting a little windy.
I would love to ride with you and V so let me know when you both can get up this way again.
Have a good week and stay dry.

Maybe the weekend of March 18th, if the weather is good. My next free weekend is April 22.
My legs will be strong for the Maze Tour, but I don't know about my off road skills. We haven't ridden off road since we did Bryce to Zion in early August.

I'll pencil in March 18th. It looks like one of the three of us is booked until May otherwise. TH, aren't you signed up for Bike Around the Buttes on 4/22?
We're probably going to see what the commute back down the hill is like by going Highway 20 into Yuba City. The traffic ground to a halt 20 miles above Rocklin with only one small break before it jammed up again all the way onto the Yolo Causeway. Riding on a Saturday may help us avoid the Sunday afternoon Tahoe commuters.

TH, where do you start? We park at the Harmony Market and ride up as far as the group wants. We rode all the way to Omega a couple of summer ago. I really like this trail for its variety.

Hey SadieKate
Answer number one - yes I am signed up for bike around the buttes so I had better get my A into G and get some more miles in or I might not make it.
Answer number two - Yep I start at the Harmony market too but have never gotten as far as you guys.
I will pencil in the date and hope we have some good weather.
Looking forward to it girls.

Let's target Saturday because the traffic coming down from Tahoe on Sunday afternoons is horrible.
However, given the weather right now it may take a month or two to dry out.

Sorry SK, I did forget about your b-day ride - which was great fun. And we plan on doing it again.
I just realized that we have a club ride we're doing on 3/18 - another birthday ride. It starts in Livermore and goes up Mines Road to the Junction Cafe. I'll probably ride to the top of Hamilton, although maybe not, since Solvang is the next weekend. You're all welcome to join us. :p
And can we do Pioneer on 3/19, if the weather gods agree?

Sounds Ok to me - might be nasty traffic on your trip home though. Perhaps we need to start early so you can get on the road home before the rush from the snow starts.

I haven't even mentioned this to Bubba yet. He's got a lot of his plate right now and asking him to deal with Sunday traffic again has to be handled delicately. If this rain doesn't quit by Monday (maybe Tuesday), it's a moot point anyway.:( The next storm is supposed to drop the snow levels.
I'll pencil it in for now.
3/22 is Bubba's Bday so I was planning cupcakes or something.:(

Yep you could be right about it being a moot point. They are saying snow tomorrow and then rain, rain, rain. Hmm this is not helping my training for LRRH only my tea making skills.
If things dont work out for that date we can always get together later in the season when things are warmer and dryer. SadieKate are you doing the Party ride?
