The other day I test rode a Cannondale Quick and Giant Escape. Both were nice and fit well and I came home to do some thinking. And then I found this:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2013-Marin-TERRA-LINDA-WFG-15-700c-Womens-City-Urban-Flat-Bar-Road-Bike-NEW-/131192272256?pt=US_Bicycles_Frames&hash=item1e8bab3580

I don't know why, but it's speaking to me. The geometry and components are similar to the others ( except this one has narrower tires), and I think I just like that it would be different than every other bike around here. There are only a few bike shops, often selling the same bikes, but no Marin dealers. The price seems good, and well yes, the colors are good, too ;)

It says it comes about 90% assembled. I can do basic bike maintenance, and I'm pretty handy if I have instructions. And if I feel I'm in over my head, I will certainly take it right to a shop.

Any thoughts on eBay purchases in general, and this bike in particular are welcome.

Did not see this post until just now, and the bike is already sold, but I have had good experiences buying bikes on ebay. I've bought two MTBs (one for myself, one for DH) and one road bike that way. Also a road frame. In all cases I made sure the seller had good feedback and also that the bike geometry would work for me. There are definitely some stolen bikes/unscrupulous sellers out there, but if you check out their feedback and hopefully exchange a few q&a messages, you can get a good feel for who is a good, honest seller.

So, did you end up buying the bike? :D

Hi, no I did not buy it. I watched the auction until the last second. I was at work, and a coworker even gave me a break so I could put in a last second bid if I wanted to.

I just looked - they have another one listed
