Welp, both of us ladies went head to head and the 23-year-old took about a minute off her time, to my one second improvement. I *think* I wasn't really up to snuff - maybe it was the half cup of coffee I downed just before the thing (I don't do coffee unless it's the only caffeine available, can't do it or tea on an empty stomach or it just bounces back) but I was nauseous afterward and that's never happened before. I'm thinking I didn't eat enough/right for this one; even though I was a little faster, I just didn't feel strong. The aerobic part was holding me back and that's not usually how it goes for me.
I definitely won the "leave the biggest pile of sweat under the trainer" prize, though! And there's one more, in a month... my plan is to lose 5 pounds and do pasta instead of beer for the carbs the night before :) :)
Year's tally: Bicycle miles 625, car miles 213! (I'm glad when it went to one below, it was a Saturday.)
