Today was push up day in my classroom.

After they finished, one of my girls asked me how many push ups I could do. I told her I really didn't know, but I did 3 sets of 30 on a Bosu ball on Monday with my trainer. I would guess 50ish. Then one of my boys asked me why I had a trainer. I told him the same reason you have a teacher - someone to push you to be better. :D

Love this!!!!

After a semester of lackluster college professors, I'm so thrilled to have a prof who is clearly engaged in the subject and likes to teach. He works so hard, and it's really amazing to be in his class. As a side note, he's trying to lose weight - as his motivation, he writes his weight on the board every class (MWF). He forgot today. The class nagged him. He had lost a pound, and all 235 of us clapped.

This is awesome on so many levels. But especially the "someone to push me to be better" bit.

V. I'm always impressed with the things you post about how you work with your kids.

Thanks!

I think it's really important that they know that everyone is a work in progress.

I just wish I never had to deal with some adults. While my students drive me crazy some days, they are fun to be with most of the time. But administration and their unrealistic demands - not my principal, the district and parents who expect me to parent, or just don't know how to be a parent.... blah, blah, blah.... they make the job hard.

Glad you started this thread! I don't have a great anecdote today, but I'm sure I'll be back- 7th graders are full of surprises!
