http://www.lunachix.net/cinderella.htm

I'm planning to drag my (probably frozen) carcass down for this ride and bring my coworker friend, Marty, who will be attempting a new PB distance. Hoping it gets a tad warmer because I sure got spoiled the last few weeks.

So, who will I see there?

Plus, Miss CindySue, the directions are a bit confusing. They state to turn onto First Street but don't describe a specific meeting place. Is the "waterfront" the name of something? Do we drive up and down the shoreline until we happen to see another cyclist? Even identifying a side of the street would increase our chances of looking in the right direction.

Thank you from,

Sadie "usually lost" Kate

Sadie Kate- Since you all are starting from my place (well about 50 feet away)here's how to get there from Davis.

80 to 680. Take 780 exit (right before the bridge),take E 2nd exit. At bottom of ramp, turn Left. Go down E 2nd to E Military(2nd stoplight)turn R at Military. Get into Left lane. Turn left on 1st Street (Signal light). Go down 1st Street to B street (last street on your left). There is a big grassy area and a long parking lot just in front where you can park. You will be facing the water and will see the train depot about 100 feet in front of you.

My place is the FIRST yellow condominium when you turn around and look NORTH. We are part of the older complex- looks kinda Cape Coddish. White trim, steep pitched roofs.

Anyway, we have three bathrooms for all of you plus water and whatever else you might need. I'll have a floor pump waiting for you at the top of the stairs. (Cindy Sue knows where I live so she can direct traffic!!!!!!!!)

Address: 200 MARINA VILLAGE WAY.

Note- there are some new condos there as well. BUT they LOOK new!!! We're the ones with all the nice landscaping. Check out my orchids. All in bloom waiting for you!:D :D :D :D :D

sorry about that. I don't update the Cinderella page unless something drastic changes (but now thinking I should). More details for each week's ride is found on the "events (http://www.lunachix.net/events.html)" page: which tells you to park at 1st and B street. There is a link to the waterfront on that page also.

This is the piece I was missing. I could just see me tooling up and down the street until I found someone on a bike.

BTW, Cindy, Bubba is feeling left out.:p

yeah!!! We should have a good turnout, weather permitting. And it should be a super fun ride. We'll be going through vineyards, semi-rural areas, and some rolling hills (not too steep). We'll stop for 20 minutes (or more/less as the group desires) at the jelly belly factory for lunch/jelly bellys.

I'm telling people to bring a fanny pack for purchases!

Take the very next left (about half a block) on First Street.

Cindy, I found those links but "1st and B" could be any of 4 corners or "just nearby." Left open for lots of creative interpretation by the unfamiliar and perhaps still caffeine-challenged.

the place is gorgeous! And BG has been so generous offering the bathrooms for us, and helping me plan the route!!!!!!

Thanks!!!

ok, hopefully the directions are a little clearer now on the events page - I used BG's directions :)

will have to update the Cinderella page sometime this week. Been procrastinating my thesis too long today..... I just want to eat and play online all day.... hehehehe

Cindy, I haven't tested your directions but they seemed pretty clear. I just need to be told "park at the south end of such and such parking lot" or "look for the group next to the train station." Otherwise, they look great.

Hey Snap! According to what I can find of the ride on Krebs, it should be relatively flat... Cindy promises mainly rollers and a climb or two. Valley Spokesman rates it at a 1.5. I think the ride will actually be a 2 because Cindy has changed it a bit.

Please come! It would be great to finally ride with you! We could even 'pool if you want.

cindysue
02-21-2006, 09:27 PM
yep, a 2 is a good rating for that ride - "a challenge for beginners" - I'd only rate it that based on the miles. The rollers are fairly early in the ride and not too steep.

as for pace, we break up into groups of about 15 people based on pace. The slowest group tends to average around 10mph and the fastest group averages about 16mph, give or take.

Rats! I can't come on the ride this weekend - I'm looking at 3 weekends of "sorting, packing, hauling, dumping, carrying, unpacking, repeat 'til done or dead!" Friends are helping me out, so I'm working around their schedules, which is weekends. Hmmm. Once I'm moved into my new place and settled in I'll be back out with you guys, but I'll have some serious catching up to do... I'll miss seeing all of you this weekend :( - have a great time, and I look forward to reading the report (and seeing photos???)

Crud, I was really hoping to see you. Snap, did you decide? The course looks pretty tame; just distance (aka butt) training.

Snap- don't let the little rollers worry you. After you pass the "Fairfield City Limits sign" about a mile after Marshview, it's all FLAT and I mean FLAT!!!!!!

We set up the course so when you come home, you take the flattest route! Last hill (Park) has a halfway spot where you can rest a minute before going on.

BikerZ- yes do come and wish everyone off! It will be a gorgeous day. You can stop by the 1st Street Cafe and get a scone (my most fav- and I'm a scone freak)before you head on home to finish packing. At least packing is exercise! :p :p :p :p

Oh yeah- you could be the staff photographer! I'll have the camera ready! It's called point and shoot (no pun here, really)

Hey Nancy,
I have logged on the form, however, not sure how to post to everyone yet. I will hopefully figure it out in the next day or so. How exciting! How do you like my log on name??

Hello,
I am a new member who met Bike Goddess a couple of weeks ago. She told me about your group and I am very excited to meet other women who love to ride. I am looking forward to meeting you all and getting some miles in. Anyone riding the Jelly Belly this Saturday?
Sandie

Hi Sandie! I'll be coming up from San Jose for the ride. Welcome to TE and I'm looking forward to meeting you on Saturday!! :) Please go over to the "Getting to Know You" thread in the Open Topics area and tell us a little more about yourself!!

OK - So maybe I'll get out to Benecia and say "Hi" to the familiar faces, meet some new folks, and wave you guys off :) - that should give me enough good vibes to get through the rest of the yuckiness at home!

I'm expecting to be packed, moved, unpacked and (more or less) settled by the end of March, and once I'm past this "one hour at a time" phase, I'm really looking forward to being out on some long rides with you guys. In the meantime, its just short workouts, a bit of walking, and let's not overlook the calories burned from stress and anxiety, and insomnia!

Since I am totally unfamiliar with the area, can someone suggest a good place for a post-ride meal? Anyone care to join me? I'd prefer not to drive back to San Jose with Jack-in-the-Box in one hand, other hand on the steering wheel. :)

Z... I'm incredibly sad that you won't be there tomorrow. Can you nosh after, at least???

SadieKate

We're going to have to hang loose on the noshing. Marty needs (honest, really) to go to the Fairfield PI outlet and then to the LBS in Davis before it closes. We may be on the run.

Awww slinke - that's nice to say! I don't know about after, but I am seriously considering zooming up to say "hey" before you all head out - it's a bit of a drive, but it might be the one fun thing I do tomorrow.

(And (shhh) I'm hoping to entice Helga to come along with me to say hello...)

What a great ride that was on Saturday. I couldn't believe how many women showed up to ride and made my first ride with this group a blast. I met a lot of very nice people, however, didn't get to meet Cindy Sue or Sadie Kate. I did get to ride in Denise's fast group and met some incredible people. :D

Hey, did any of you get the opportunity to meet my "sag support" husband who provided some drink and munchies? He found it great fun to pull up in the front of Jelly Belly, open up his trunk and give out some water, gatorade, bananas, apples, etc. Thanks to all of you who showed your appreciation to him. He does that when I least expect it!:p

Looking forward to the next ride. Please let me know if anyone is dropping out of the Cinderella Ride so that perhaps I can ride in their place.

Until next time!

Sandie,

funny, i heard about your husband but didn't realize that was you. Too bad I didn't get a chance to meet you. I haven't had a chance to touch base with Denise. How was the rest of the ride? Smooth sailing? I heard you all finished in good time: 4 hours including your stop at the Jelly Belly factory......

Cindy,
Our ride was great and we did make good time. I just heard back from someone who is giving up their Cinderella registration, so I guess I will also be riding that day. Now I am really motivated to get some miles in. Hopefully we'll be able to meet soon.

Turning in for some beauty sleep! Good night!

I was floating between the second and third group of riders and did get a chance to snag an apple from your hubby. That was so nice of him!
We pulled up and saw the truck and then somebody explained he was there for us. It was very much appreciated!! What a nice thing to do. Does he have a brother? ;)

Hope to meet you at a future ride, Sandie! Dar, sorry I missed hearing you sing. Maybe next time. :)

Okay, BikerZ. Where were you? :D

Now you know why I live in Benicia! You all are welcome to come ride at my place any time!
Dave didn't know who used the bathrooms, he just mentioned the clutsy shoes going up and down the stairs!!!!! So, who came over?

I don't think SK saw her artwork on the front door. Hopefully someone told her!

*raising hand* Yes, I did pee in your toilet. :o Thanks for the use of your facilities. Dave was very gracious. And I took off my cleats before I came in the house, btw. ;)

I did apprise SK of the fact that you had your AV jersey hanging on the door. Very nice touch.

Thanks again, BG! Now, we just have to meet!! :)

So, SK, did Marty buy out the store are the PI outlet? It's a good thing I didn't go. Traffic was horrendous getting home... some crud in the road on 680. Took me almost 1.5 hours to get home.
