Woke up to snow on the ground, sleet and rain in the air, and temperatures just above freezing. My most unfavourite weather of all, apart from heavy rain and wind. Neoprene shoe covers, Amfib tights, wool bike shorts, homemade rain shorts, water-resistant softshell jacket, wool Buff and neoprene paddling gloves, and I'm at work comfortable, warm and dry everywhere it matters. Slightly damp calves and inner elbows, but that's the price I pay for not being saran-wrapped in Goretex.

I just love nailing commuter clothing for bad days :D Winter, bring it on.

Very inspiring! Glad you've got it down.

Love to know about the home-made rain shorts.

No exciting handicraft, I'm afraid, just old rain pants chopped off just below the knee. But they work much better for cycling, in my opinion, because they let in a lot more air and don't get clammy, while still keeping the important parts dry and warm. Now if I could combine them with shin guards, soccer-style, I'd be all set ;-)

That sounds like a great idea -- sort of rain capris instead of rain pants. The first (and only) time I tried to cycle in the Gore-tex rain pants I use for camping I got so hot.

That is clever. One problem I've had when my legs get wet is the fabric sticks to my skin. I actually ended up with what looked like rug burns on my knees once. Big huge scabs!

Yup, I've worn mine out now so they are no longer waterproof over the thighs, so I need to make or buy new ones. I've seen them commercially made now too, from Endura, I think. They also work well as an extra windproofing layer when it's extra cold, helps against that "cold-butt-syndrome".

I noticed these on TE, and other garments from the same manufacturer.

I bought the IZUmi cycling waterproof jacket (https://adventuregearhub.com/best-waterproof-cycling-jacket/) still fine even over 3 years now.

Just noticed that Primalwear now has Fall jackets. Lot of plaid  so I'm not in love with the patterns but ... the weather is turning and they've got it. Thought they were just jerseys so that is good.

Might just get it to wear around.

I could kinda look like "flannel shirt guy" :)

I wonder how the jackets feel? Something toasty warm like a flannel shirt would be nice.

Weather was weird here; dark clouds, almost black. Lots of wind. Really looks like heavy rain but held off.
