I've had lyme disease for about two years .I'm finding it difficult to build up to a comfortable riding level without feeling drained and washed out after about 15 miles. Before getting sick, I was up to 62 miles and working on riding my first century ride. At this point I would be happy just to be able to ride 50 miles and feel reasonably good without feeling washed out and totally spent.

Does anyone else have lyme and find it hard to work hard on the bike?
I'm getting very discouraged, angry, and frustrated with my weakness , muscle aches and all the symptoms associated with this disease.
I'm looking for others who have lyme or know about it enough to offer me suggestions on training...nutrition, herbs or things that I can try to help me find my strength and build stamina.
Thanks alot....

I would suggest going to your local natural foods store. Do you have one? They should be able to help you. It was suggested to me to drink endurox to help my muscle repair. Have you tried something like that? I don't have lyme's but I have a friend who works for the health dept and my husband has had to be tested for it. I am really sorry you are suffering from it!

Brandi,
Thanks for the advice to try the health food stores.
I'm taking about 16 pills a day already both antibiotics and supplements, but will try anything to get my stamina back.
I'll take any suggestions anybody else might have.

If you do go the way of the natural store, please make sure you talk with a doctor who takes natural products seriously before you mix and match with your medication. Natural products are, in many cases, potent and serious stuff (hey, that's why it works) and, when mixed with pharmaceutical products (that are also originally founded on something natural, usually), can have side effects, just like any two drugs mixed together.

Good luck. I admire your determination.
