The Bike Hermit just left on his Pilgrimage across Nevada. He and a buddy are riding from Carson City, Nevada to Cedar City, Utah on Highway 50 - dubbed the Lonliest Highway in America.
He commented that he has never had to pack quite so much gear - many miles between towns and overnight temps in the 30's, snow expected in some areas toward the end of the week.
Part of me is glad I will be holding down the fort and part of me is really wishing I was going too. At least he is riding with a friend this time so I won't be quite as anxious when I don't hear from him for a few days...

I've driven on I-80 through Nevada to Utah and been amazed by emptiness. There are exits with signs telling you that there is nothing at the exit.

And then there was the exit sign that says:

Deeth
Star Valley

So of course you start looking around for Darth Vader...

Too funny

Yes, they have really been focused on packing enough water for those long stretches. Me, I am thinking positive thoughts in relation to tailwinds.
