My husband is a runner. I run too but that's really all he's interested in. He owns a bike, but it lives in the shed whereas mine live on a bike rack in the storage room in the house where it's easier to get to. Also climate controlled. The point is that he has a 50k race coming up in January. He wanted to go check it out beforehand and I've convinced him that the thing to do here is for us to take our bikes and ride the course. Its a two loop race so we're going to end up riding more like 15-20 miles than 31 so hopefully that won't be too much for someone who has not been on a bike since college. Now the plan is to pack a picnic lunch and make it a fun day so maybe just maybe he'll get more interested in cycling.

wish me luck

Make sure his bike is in good working order -- chain lubed, shifters and brakes working, etc. Replace the inner tubes and check the tires for dry rot. It's harder to enjoy a bike ride when the bike is not working well.

Have fun!!

Yup, I'm taking into the LBS this weekend to have it checked out. I'm sure the last thing he would enjoy is a breakdown.
