Last night began what is known in New England as the "Holy Week" of Cyclocross - an evening race in Lancaster, MA that drew over 300 racers! DH and I went out to race in the SSCX category at 3 pm, and then to volunteer and heckle (I mean, cheer) our friends.

I think I had possibly the MOST fun racing my bike ever last night! For SSCX, they start the women and the men together as one group, and I battled all night with my friend Jesus. In the end, we sprinted to the line together, and this was the result:

16715

Can you call it? The officials couldn't, and actually listed us as tying!

The entire last lap of my race, however, all I could think about was that I was going to have the BEST podium shot ever - I was going to be second to local pro, Mo Bruno Roy :D. I take comfort in very small pleasures.

Awesome, SheFly. I just saw that the Gloucester race is Saturday. I won't make it this year, because I am doing a ride on the south coast, but good luck! I wish I was a little younger. I think I would like cyclocross.

Thanks, all! It's been a great day today thinking about how much fun I had yesterday! Crankin - Gloucester is this weekend (both days), and the weather looks stellar for a change. Time to get ready for some big racing - 100 Cat 3/4 women in a sold out field! Better than that, the junior 10-14 field is sold out with a waiting list! CX really is a fun sport - LOVE IT.

Someone said to me today, "How many people can claim they were in a dead heat with Jesus?" :D (sorry for the sacrilege).

I can't even imagine racing in such a large CX field, much less with Jesus!! ;)

Ha, ha.
I think if you live in a place where there aren't a lot of people with that name (and the Spanish pronunciation), you might do a double take.
I might try to get up to Gloucester on Sunday. Cross is a perfect sport for young teens; glad to see it's growing. When Scott did it, he had to compete with adults most of the time, so things have changed.
