My husband is now home and is just fine, but between now and last Tuesday he was med-flighted from our local hospital ER into Boston where he spent a couple days in Med ICU. I guess my anxiety has decided to settle on how much that bill may be and whether our MediGap insurance (Harvard-Pilgrim) will cover it. By the way, flight time was about 10 minutes. The crew joked that he would spend longer in the elevator going from the helipad at Beth Israel down to the BI ER.

No, but usually you can get the company to bring the price down to what your insurance will pay. Call Harvard Pilgrim!
Glad DH is fine.
Good to see you here!

That must have been frightening. I'm glad your husband is going to be okay. I hope his recovery goes well.

Glad he is ok. I know someone here very East of Montreal who was taken off by heli-med and it was $4000. She had to fight to bring the price down as she had no insurance to cover. I think she was able to get it for half-price by mentioning she never requested such service. But there was no other way. She was in winter, in some type of forest trail, on a four-wheeler when a stupid accident happened.

Wishing a speedy and top-shape recovery to your husband. Take care of yourself in that nerve-wrecking situation.

When BF crashed his bike, he had to be flown to the ER because the paramedics suspected head and neck injuries. (Thankfully, it was only a concussion.)

He told me they had to fight with the insurance company to cover it. They weren't going to because it "wasn't a necessity, based on his injuries." They had to track down the paramedics who requested it to tell them a) it was the paramedics that requested it, and b) based on what they knew at the time, it was the best option. Once they had a statement in hand, the insurance company covered it (or most of it, can't remember).

Glad to hear that your DH is going to be okay.
