woot! finally a Whole Foods less than an hour drive through Houston traffic. Not only that but it has a bike rick and wall bike parking and pump station with anchored tools and a map of local bike paths on the wall. Bicycle World and Fitness another Houston store has put in a small and very nice small branch store out here that has a pump and water station available 24/7 plus reasonable enough hours that it is possible to stop in for odds and ends during a ride. On another note we will also be getting a Trader Joes- the first in Houston I believe. Now if the burbs would just quit sprawling out to consume us life would be perfect.

There's a Trader Joe's on Shepherd and another one on Voss. I'm lucky that we have a Whole Foods by my office in Sugar Land. Closest thing we have in Cypress is Sprouts.

Mmm, Whole Foods and Trader Joe's. I like Sprouts--it's like WF, but less pretentious. ;) Their produce seems to be hit-or-miss, though. The closest Whole Foods to me is being remodeled from the ground up, essentially, and won't open until this winter. We do have a Trader Joe's. I haven't been yet.

Dayton didn't have WF, though it did have Trader Joe's, and a smaller place with some excellent prepared food. The only thing was that it was actually faster to drive to Cincinnati to go to WF.

Lucky you! We have neither here in the cornfields. We do have a nice local food coop but it's pretty spendy if you go outside the bulk aisles.

Oh, I miss the food coop in Cleveland. Expensive outside the bulk isles, the produce was not so great most of the time, but they did have some cool stuff.

I stand corrected on the Trader Joes. I guess I knew about theother two but had blocked them as being too far away through Housdton Traffic. The whole foods in SugarLand opened about a year before we moved to katy and was very convenient which is probably why I am so excited to have one close again. Incidentally, there is a Sprouts here that just opened at the intersection of Westheimer and the Grand Parkway ( highway 99.) Depending on you route and the time of day you could consider coming up the Grand Parkway to Westheimer and when you are done getting back on the parkway and going north to 10 or south to the west bend parkway to the Sam Houston (8) and then on to Cypress. Just a thought.
