So, I've really cut back on riding... and haven't liked it. I misplaced my Garmin... 2 years ago... so I decided it wasn't coming back and ordered a new one, hoping that would help motivate me.
Then... the very next day... one of hte guys down at the Bike Coop brings up Calvin's Challenge, which I've sorta kinda thought about doing - it's a 12-hour ride (you see how many miles you can do), next May 3. Well, now he's sayin 'if you do it, I'll do it.'

Time to start riding more :-)

Hmmmmm...that should motivate you! It would me just because I hate to bug out on those type of challenges....

I have some friends who do Calvin's Challenge every year. It's a love/hate thing from what I can gather. :p

Good luck! I hope having a goal provides the motivation you've been looking for.

It's a loop, I assume? How hilly?

It's a loop, I assume? How hilly?

"rolling hills" which would be a whole lot hillier than shampoo-banana(CHampaign-Urbana), but I really, really like rolling hills. There's a 50 mile loop and a 7 mile loop, so I am hoping to get 3 50's in.

I think I have ridden about 1.7 times as much and as hard this past two weeks :) :) :)
When my friend Anne called and said "go for a ride?" an inner voice said, "gotta train for Calvin!!! Yes!" automatically instead of " um, what do I have to do ..."
There's a 60 mile ride we do Labor Day that starts 40 miles away... I think I'll be ready to do the "ride to the ride" and make it a century again (I did it twice, but last year was so **** hot that I wasn't in shape so I didn't) ... it means getting up before dawn...but it also means riding with my not so competitive buddies 'cause I've already ridden 40 miles :) (then I throw my bike in somebody's car and we go to the MoonGlo and have really disgustingly big burgers and beer under this huge moose head...)
