My new buddy

I've started feeding these guys peanuts - they have been pretty amazingly easy to hand tame.... I have two visiting, I think a mama and her kid. The little one won't perch on my hand yet, but he takes peanuts from me. The older one is bold as brass - will sit on my hand - even invade my lap for more peanuts. I'll have to bring my camera home from work and see if I can get some really good photos.

Ha! Are they scrub jays? I had a scrub jay perch on my head for about 10 minutes once on a nature walk. Glad I wore a hat!

yeah - scrub jays - they've just moved into this area recently, but the appear to be pretty successful here.

Love, love, love it! Clark's nutcracker was doing this with us when we were at Estes in Colorado. It was so cool!

They are bold. We have one that will perch near the cat food and then try to chase the cat away if he comes to eat.

That's awesome. We only get blue jays in our neighborhood and they are pretty skittish.

Happy to report I now have two regular visitors who keep me buying 5 lb bags of peanuts :) They usually greet me when I leave the house and when I come home.
